OK....for those of you who could care less about knitting, forgive me .

Below is a picture of my dishcloth...no edging yet. I guess edging this and my daughters scarf will be my "project" for the week. I hope this encourages those who are interested in knitting to pick up your needles and get knitting! It is sooooo much fun.

Bevrs- I will scan my mitten patterns and send them to you. I have two really great patterns. On that you can do on regular needles and then a big bulky mitten that is done on double points- I can do a pair of these in a day since they use size 15 needles.

The cashmere yarn isn't too bad from the yarn shop that I "haunt." They have 100g, about 82 yards, skeins for $12.95 up to $22.95 available. I have been using the cheaper priced yarn just for the mittens since I found that cheaper stuff to actually be nicer that the more expensive even with using multiple strands. Course with my hands always being cold that was another reason to the go with the nice soft lining. I am thinking of doing another set of liners since I will have enough to do that and putting inside felted mitten. Not sure if I really ready to move towards felting...but working on getting my confidence up for tackling that project.

Send questions...I have probably asked them numerous times myself of my instructors who have had a lot of patience. I get quite a few questions from the girls at work wanting hints on what to do to repair mistakes (dropped stitches mostly or having to take out a row or more and then get it back on the needle).

I think you will find it relaxing.

I wouldn't tackle mittens if my life depended on it! Yikes! That's just WORK, Girl! Nothin' but WORK!

I certainly admire your drive, not to mention how much you spend! $22.95 for one skein? YIKES! No, I'll stick to my little cotton yarn, thankyouverymuch. I wait 'till it goes on sale, then I feel lucky if I can get it for $8/skein.

I'd LOVE to see some pix of your finished work, Michelle. How 'bout posting a few?

I took classes through a local craft shops. Another place is to check some of the church groups that do knitting circles. They often work on projects for Project Preemies (hats, booties and blankets for preemies at the local hospitals) and other charities mitten/scarf drives. I know that one night a week a bunch of people get together at Barnes and Noble in the cafe area and knit. They share tips, patterns and encouragement.

My daughter picked the yarn out since the scarf is hers. She loves it and helped a bit...she cut some of the fringe. She is going to take a class with me in a few weeks. What a cool mother/daughter day we will have!

I crocheted a green edge on one end and then used two strands of green yarn and one yellow on that side for the fringe and did the opposite on the other side with yellow yarn bring the primary.

Knitting is not as difficult as I thought it would be though I am looking forward to taking classes and improving.

Bevrs...not sure what you said that got me interested in knitting but I am so glad you said it! You are the greatest cheerleader of all time!
