Hi! Am just catching up on the boards, and have read about your job.Am so sorry that things didn't work out the way that you had hoped, but by the sounds of things, perhaps you are better off out of it!

Thanks. At 44 years old, I am still discovering what I want to do with my life. I am eliminating things. I now know that retail is not for me. I am now getting caught up on all the things I neglected the past month while working. Don't know how everyone works full time and takes care of things around the house. Ha! I'm kind of a perfectionist and I have a hard time "letting things go," as my husband would say. It's probably a good thing I'm not there anymore. I am having pain in my right arm. It hurts and feels weak when I use it. I can't attribute it to the job; however, I know helping a co-worker get heavy pieces of pine furniture down from the second story of the stockroom didn't help. I don't have the upper body strength for that kind of lifting. I've sent out a couple of resumes lately, but so far, all I've gotten is "thanks, but we don't have any openings at this time." One day I'm going to be shocked when I actually get an interview!

Well,if its any consolation i'm 30 (nearly 31!!)and i'm trying to work out what i want to do too!! I worked in retail for nearly 8 years, and have realised that it wasn't for me! I'm temping at the moment, which is good as it lets you see a variety of jobs on offer!! Meanwhile i am building up a nice collection of "dear john" letters from employers!!

I just received an email (a personal note, not a form letter) from the editor of a local weekly publication. I had sent her a copy of my resume and asked about freelance opportunities. She wants to see samples of my work. I also told her that my son, a senior in high school, is an excellent photographer. She said she may use him to take photos at his high school when things come up. He needs the opportunity since he is building a portfolio for scholarship consideration at an art college. Hey, maybe two jobs with one email!!!! Can't beat that! Keep your fingers crossed.
