I have invited my ladies group (that meets weekly for brunch) to meet at my apartment complex on Tuesday. It has a beautiful, brand new mini movie theater (with stadium style seating). I thought it would be fun for us to watch a chick flick together!!!!
Anyone have any suggestions for a good movie that I could rent from Blockbuster? Something that only ladies would like?
I want something that funny---something that we could just laugh out loud out, or something that would provide for lots of good discussion later.
I guess I should preface this be saying this is an empty-nesters group. Most of us have children that have just recently gone off to college!
Any ideas?????????????

Monster In Law amused a set of my mom's friends recently. It's got both J.Lo and J.Fo in it, and they related either to their own mother in laws or to their Evil Kids' Spouses.

"The Notebook" is a big chick flick. What about "Bridget Jones' Diary"? "Ever After" used to be one of my favourites as well. "Love Actually" is cute.
Love movies! --Steph

I've only seen that one about 3 times, Bevrs, and you're right--it's a good one.

"Truly, Madly, Deeply." (Sort of a more Intellectual "Ghost.")
"Women On the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown." (I almost piss myself laughing during this one!)
"Red Violin." (This one is really mesmerizing.)
"Being John Malkovich." (If I ran out to Blockbuster for a flick, I think I would grab this one to suit my mood, tonight.)
"Defending Your Life." (Meryl Streep, Al Brooks. I just always like this one. One of those afterlife humourous things.)
And of course, anything with Ben Stiller!

I love that movie! No one I know other than Mac has ever seen it without me getting them to, it's not very well-known, but it is such an awesome movie. One of my favorites!

That one REALLY REALLY gets to me! Uh, oh--I know what I'm watching again, soon.
So few people have seen it. I find that hard to believe!

I'm making a list of all of your suggestions and going to Blockbuster today. I may get a handful of movies---and let the group vote on what they want to watch ---or we may watch them all, one by one!
They may have to kick us ladies out of the mini theater!!!! I must remember to bring Kleenex.
Thanks, ladies! I knew I could count on you for help.

Definite "Summer of '42." Jennifer O'Neil was so incredibly beautiful, and the scenery was phenomenal, not to mention the music. But you'll need boxes of tissues.....
Great, GREAT movie. I SOOOO related to it! Definitely a chick flick though.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding (not entirely a chick flick, but a great watch) The Princess Bride Steel Magnolias Fried Green Tomatoes Serendipity
And I'll agree with Runaway Bride (very cute) and The Wedding Planner. I don't typically like Jennifer Lopez, but Matthew McCauna-hubba? Oh yes. Yes indeedy.

Many of the movies that were recommended to me were not available at the Blockbuster near me. This is what I ended up renting:
Monster-in-Law (Jennifer Lopez, Jane Fonda) The Upside of Anger (Kevin Costner, Joan Allen) The Wedding Date (Debra Messing, Dermot Mulroney) Noel (Penelope Cruz, Susan Sarondon, Paul Walker, Alan Arkin, Robin Williams) The Polar Express (Tom Hanks)
I watched 2 last night---The Wedding Date was so stupid! I would not recommend it. I enjoyed Noel. It was a sweet Christmas story!
Don't know what my ladies group will want to watch. I will watch the rest of the movies in the next couple of days while my husband is out of town.
I'll let you know what I think of the rest!
