I am SOOOO tired lately I fall asleep while driving. I know I am doing it but can't help it!!! I am lack of energy big time!! I drag myself through the day at work fall asleep driving on the way home and then crawl into bed when I get there. So I haven't posted in ages or done much of anything.
For those of you who don't know I have Fibromyalgia, so no it is not depression. I just can't get any good sleep.
Anyone have any suggestions on things for energy booster and sleep. I am taking Sonoma (sleeping pill) at night it only stays in my system for 2 hours. It helps me get to sleep but not stay asleep.
My friend suggested taking something called "prosperous farmer" a chinese herb that is supposed to increase your energy. Anyone heard of this??
Fibro gals what supplements are you taking?
Thanks so much for your help!!!

I used to take Ambien until I got pregnant, and it works like a dream! LOL!! Ironically, the high risk dr I'm seeing has me taking Unisom for morning sickness! It does take the edge off the nausea and it is helping me sleep, bonus!
As far as helping you to stay awake and give you more energy, try b-6 and b-12!!! You can buy them over the counter at most any pharmacy!

Christie, I often have a problem sleeping, and, like you, take a sleeping aid. However, I've noticed that my problem seems to go away when I avoid ALL caffeine (including chocolate) HOURS before I go to bed. I don't mean one hour or even two, but MANY HOURS. I cut out all caffeine by 3:00 in the afternoon.
Also, I've noticed that sugar will do the same; not only will I wake up in the middle of the night, wide awake, but my legs will shake. It's not RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome), it's SUGAR. Thus, I now cut out all sugar at 3:00 in the afternoon as well. If I want a bed-time snack, I just make sure it's not too high in carbs (which turns to sugar) and has no caffeine or sugar.
Hope this helps. Above all, you must do whatever it takes to keep awake while driving!

I don't do caffeine usually because it irritates my tummy. But I have been stopping in the a.m. to get .....(GASP!) a cappuccino. It is REALLY BAd for my tummy but I can't fall asleep and kill myself or someone else. I am trying to cut down on my sugar intake anyway but I guess the bowl of ice cream before bedtime is doing me in.
Any ideas for staying awake while driving? I have tried rolling the windows down and turning the radio up. But these things usually don't work. It is the strangest feeling knowing that you are falling asleep and it is dangerous but still can't stop it from happening.

PLEASE don't drive. Ask a friend to take you. Take a bus. Join a carpool. Take your bike instead. ANYTHING but driving! This sounds serious. If you can't drive without falling asleep, well, there's your answer.

I know I have to do something, I just don't know how to continue to work and deal with this damn fibro which is causing my fatigue.
I used to work 10 miles from my house but the company sunk and I had to get a new job and on such short notice the only thing I could find is 30 miles from my house, a 30-45 minute drive depending on traffic. I don't know anyone who can take me. I looked into a taxi but it would be major expensive and I am already on a tight budget and need my income or else I would just stay home.
I have found if I talk to someone while driving I don't fall asleep. I try to call someone to stay awake. I don't know anyone to carpool with either. I am going to have to figure out how to fix the problem of falling asleep. I talked to doc about and he seemed to just brush it off.

Okay, lets see. If talking with someone keeps you awake, why not keep a daily journal that you DICTATE into a machine while you're driving? It's hands-free, and you never have to take your eyes off the road. This journal could contain all your thoughts and ideas, maybe even work into a book that you might at some point want to have published? Maybe a story of your life or some experiences you've had?
Think about it....

Christy, I hate to admit it, but I've had this problem before too. It's awful and I know that it's dangerous!!!! Here are my tricks that have helped in the past:
1. Sing to the radio 2. keep moving - If you don't drive a stick, tap your left foot (don't shake it like an involuntary reaction - push it to the floor, like you're exercising, move your hands around on the wheel and check your posture 3. avoid sunlight if possible - the sun makes my eyes squint and then they all of a sudden can close - that is bad. 4. Bring a drink - cold may be better here
If all else fails:
1. I've been known to chew on my fingers 2. Stop the car, pull over, get out and walk around. Even if it's only for two minutes, that usually helps.
Be safe Christy!!! Hope you're feeling better soon.
