I'd be scared to death to do that! I'm so envious that you do that!!!!! Also impressed!! Of course with that scene how could you resist huh! It's truly gorgeous. Is it close to your house? At least in the pic the waters look rather calm

Hi Lisa,

Bev is always trying to get me to try kayaking, especially since we live near the water. It does look like so much fun and she really enjoys it but I'm scared of deep water.Shhhhhh!

My hubby had a 22ft sailboat once and I always hated to go out in it because I always felt it was going to tip over....once it did but fortunately I wasn't in it.

The only thing I might go out in is a large boat, one that will surely not tip over in that deep dark scary water! EEEEEEK!

That scenery is to die for isn't it? But, as I tell Bev, I'll stay on dry land, thank you very much!

I don't mind the water. I just don't like my legs in a contraption that I'm not gonna be able to get out of. I'm kinda claustrophobic in that way! Once tried to go water skiing one time and could not stand the life jacket confining me in the water with my skis standing straight up out of the water. Ughhhh not for me. However, I did like being pulled behind a boat in a tube. That was fun. I'm a cancer and really do like the beach and water, however, kayaking and canoeing and that kinda stuff...NOT!

How've ya been? Enjoying Annie? I'm in the process of looking into a mixed breed of a Golden and a Bernese Mountain Dog. I'm going with a mixed breed this time since every experience I've had with pure bred dogs have been not so good (health issues like hot spots and bad hips and stuff). This breeder is supposed to breed in the spring so I'll let ya know what we decide. I miss having a dog with me. I don't miss the hair/mud/dirt, but the company of a dog makes up for those small problems!

I can't imagine the feeling of having your legs confined like that in that little skinny kayak....YIKES! I admire Bev for being able to do it. My water adventure consists of wading out only about waist high in Galveston or playing water volleyball in a pool.

Yes, we are having a great time with Annie. She's a little sweetheart. She will be through with her heartworm treatment confinement in another week. She is pretty laid back so it hasn't been hard to keep her quiet, but 6 weeks is a long time. I can't wait to just let her run and go to the park and go for walks. It will be fun. I still find myself calling her Rusty, though.

Good luck in finding another dog. I know it will bring you lots of joy. Let me know when you do.

she is just more beautiful than the last time I saw picture of her! Who the heck could have given her away?!?!?!?!? She reminds me a lot of my first Golden, Chelsea.

I'm debating this time female or male. I've liked owning both. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Maybe we'll come home with two No, my husband doesn't even want another one. I think it's because he was the one who actually took Reilly to the vet to be put to sleep and the memories are still painful. I can understand but I still want another dog.

Hi Lisa: I know what you mean about having a dog. We always had Great Danes and our last one died a year ago. I was totally devastated and swore I wasn't going to get another dog. Well, we were puppy-less for about three months and I just couldn't stand it any longer. We went out, downsized from a 155 pound Dane to two Labs who now weigh 155. They are both great companions and I love them. They haven't taken the place of our Dane, but they are getting there. Maybe after all the chewing and digging is behind us.

Hey Bev,

That is such an awesome picture!! Looks like a lotta places around here that I am too afraid to drive up to.
Anyway, so glad you have such a beautiful place to go to and kayak on.

Fun, fun!

I love kayaking, but I have a LOT of respect for open water. I don't do it. I'm a lake gal. I'm scared to death of oceans. Lakes are good 'cause there's nothing swimming around underneath you waiting and ready to eat you alive.

We usually go kayaking with a friend who is REEEELY into kayaking like you wouldn't believe. She's kayaked all over the country, and even into other countries. Her favorite place of all is Vancouver. She loves whales, and that's where they are in great abundance. She was kayaking up there once, when suddenly she became aware of a LARGE DARK OBJECT moving UNDERNEATH HER! Of course it was a whale. (The Canadian authorities were not pleased, to say the least!) Still, she said Vancouver is an awesome place to kayak. I've paddled along the Fraser River where it empties into Georgia Straits, but that's as far as I take it. Even so, you have to be very careful not to paddle through a bunch of salmon, 'cause that's seal food, and the seals have been known to attack kayakers; they don't like nothin' disturbin' their food!

Nope, no thanks; I'll stick to calm pristine lakes, thankyouverymuch.....
