I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what to get Mac this year, and I'm stumped! So I figured I'd ask you all, what are you planning/your ideas for holiday gifts for significant others? Figure I can't be the only one stumped!

Is he big into his car? How about a gift cert to get his car detailed?

I can't say anything about potential gift for my sweetie for obvious reasons... (You won't be finding any hints on here HC!!)
Speaking as a guy, I agree with Shell about the car. What about video games, is he into that? DVD of his favorite movie or television show. Does he like hockey or basketball? maybe buy him tickets for his favorite sport? What bout gadgets. Guys like gadgets and tools. Maybe a new cell phone or digital camera?

who doesn't particularly like stuff....he's kinda indifferent about his car, doesn't play video games, his favorite music is classical and classic rock, and he refuses to own a cell phone. Last year, I ended up getting him the Complete Curious George since he loves monkeys.
and LOL, I completely understand why you two refuse to say anything about what you're getting Shane and Tina!

Well, kinda. I can think of a lot of things Adam wants, but since I don't have any money for gifts this year, I'm limited to what I can make... and THAT's rough.
Ideas:
CDs DVDs Books Sweaters, if he's a clotheshorse like Adam is Tools - even if he's not a handyman kind of guy, I've never met a guy who didn't like Leatherman multi-tools or Swiss Army knives
If he has a hobby in particular that he's really into, you can think of something along those lines... like a magazine subscription or accessories related to it (like, Adam plays guitar, so I could get him guitar straps and sets of strings).

Wow! He sounds like my hubby in those respects!
Well...my hubby gets a new bike every year! This takes care of b-day and all major and minor holidays
BUT i do get him a sweater every now and then. When we got engaged I bought him a watch (he was wearing the one his old g/f gave him ) and he LOVES IT!
Maybe a new wallet? Is he kinda preppish? Perhaps an engraved pen (my bro would love that!)
Hmm...
I used to do this "gift certificate" idea. Give him a gift certificate to his fav restaurant or for a massage, or a night on the town...whatever he would like. Or make him his fav dish and decorate the place with candles (or is that more for a guy to do for a girl...I guess it depends on the guy?! Some guys I know would love that...cause they LOVE home made food ) Maybe go somewhere/do something you wouldn't do for him normally. Like if he likes to go dancing but you're not so into...go as a gift?
Whatever you give him...he will LOVE it cause it's from you and from the heart

My husband needs very little and so this year I am giving him a picture of he and I (that he doesn't remember having taken)in a pretty frame.
Maybe we are getting old but we don't go all out with each other. It could be that we focus on the kids...suddenly I am feeling frumpy!

Since I moved to Scotland, there is seriously no shortage of 'scottish' things that I'm planning on picking up for my family/girlfriend at Christmas. Generally though, you should know what he's in to, and just give yourself some time to be creative. Multi-part gifts of small things work well too.

I don't know how old you are, but somehow I doubt that's it. I actually told Adam that we should skip gifts for each other this year... neither one of us can afford to buy the other much of anything, and I think the money we do have would be better spent on his nieces and nephews.
...but no, he didn't go for that. LOL! So I guess I'm the old and frumpy one!

We have that trip planned out west to visit with family and the tickets were pretty pricey and with the babies coming, we need to save our pennies! I might pick up a CD or a video game for Will but thats about it this year! He's gotten EXPENSIVE gifts the last three years, an X-box one year, a PDA the next and a I-POD last year so he's gotten his share of expensive toys already!
