I'm going to get my hair done, haven't been since April so I'd say it's time. Only thing is I'm making a big change this time. I'm going DARK - more true to my natural color. Once upon a time I was a natural blonde, LOL! Ever since it's been thanks to a salon or a box. Anyway, here's some pics of what I want it to be like - aaaack! What do you think? Hope I don't lose my nerve. I thought dh would choke at the idea of me not being "blonde" but he said if I get some blonde highlights in the front and a reddy shade of brown it would look really attractive. Guess we'll see!!!!

(hey, do you think they can give me the boobs too???? ha!!!!!!!)

I didn't realize this second picture was SO big, sorry.

I'm the same, used to be blonde, but I've gotten more brown over the years. Right now I've got blond highlights but I just made an appt for the same thing!!---reddish brown with some blond around the front.

Hi Michelle,

Hope you have a fun day at the hair salon. I think dark with some blonde highlights, especially around the face would be beautiful on you. I'm sure the hairstylist will be able to help you pick out a color that is becoming without looking harsh.

My color comes from "Miss Clairol" but one of these days I'm going to make that trip to the salon, too.

Be sure and post some pictures.

Good Luck,
Barbie

I should do something different with my hair too. Two years later, it still looks pretty much like it does in my profile pic, but about 6 inches shorter. And I very rarely actually wear it down like that 'cause it drives me NUTS. But I'm too cheap to get it colored at a salon and too chicken to change styles.

Heh. Maybe I need to visit Miss Clairol, too.

Well Michelle I am on my way in about 1 1/2 hours to get my hair cut and colored. I am going shorter more of a shoulder length bob and more bangs. My color is going to be red which is usually what I do anyways. I am nervous because I will be cutting off about 5 inches!!!. Oh well it's just hair. I can't wait to see your pics. I will post mine as well!!

I haven't had a decent haircut in about a year! Time to shape up and perhaps add some highlights myself. My hair is so thin though, it's embarrassing to even go in!

I bet you both will look fantabulous...you both already are and you both have gorgeous heads of hair. Can't wait to see the pics!

Well my hair was really long!!! Half way down my back. In May I cut about 6 in off and about 3 wks ago I cut off another 5 in. So my hair is now just above my shoulders. I like it a lot. Its easy to do and the baby cant pull it as much. It was a shock...but it was good for me to do it in stages. I look at some of my old pics and miss my long hair a little. But I really like it this length as well. I need to get my hair colored soooo bad. I had highlights in June....and they have grown out. It's hard to get out for a few hrs with a new baby. I'll get it done before the holidays!!!

Good luck to both of you girl at the salon today!!! Post pics asap. I will try and get some of me and Hailey this weekend too!

I buy the soft black and dark brown and mix the two. That is the only way I can get my natural color...

The other day I was playing "I Spy" with my kids while we were waiting for our friends at a restaurant and I said "I spy something white" and my ever so precious daughter who is way beyond her years says "your hair"? Ha ha herself...I should have made her pay for her own dinner!

I wouldn't do it! If your hair is sparse and thin you'll probably stress it out, and your poor scalp. Truly, I'm deeply concerned. Hair colourants are pretty harsh chemicals and your hair sounds pretty weak as it is.

Do pamper yourself, though. Maybe a trim? A deep conditioning treatment? A massage? Exfoliate something or wax something? Manicure? Pedicure?

I don't want you to fry your hair.

I'm going to get a trim in about 3 weeks, I think. No more gaps--it's going curly! Totally the big hair of my youth!
Something pixie-like/gamine...you know...Audrey Hepburn--sophisticated and naughty at the same time. It will show off my HUGE eyes and Eastern European cheekbones.

It's just amazing, though...NO GAPS...it just needs time, nutrition, and well...NO STRESS to grow...you know, like herbs or flowers or well...anything in a garden! Water and happy thoughts, too. Definitely. Anti-OXIDENTS!

Kate.

My SIL is a hairdresser and she told me all the drugstore stuff has a ton more peroxide than the salon stuff, even for going darker. It's really tough on your hair. You're better off just investing in salon treatments if you see yourself coloring your hair long-term. I won't even touch the stuff anymore (it's like 15% peroxide compared to 2% in salons).

I've been coloring my own hair for almost 20 years!!!! I started dying it blonde when I was 15!!! I've been pretty much every color under the sun and only had ONE really bad expierence! I tried to go too dark from the blonde and used something with ASH in the name, big mistake, I ended up with GREEN hair! Had to have that one salon fixed but that was about 10 years ago and since then I went to light brown, to darker drown to reddish brown and now dark red! My hair isn't fried at all but I don't wash it everyday and I condition it well! I really need to post some updated pics of me!!

...as the dye coats each individual strand making it thicker.

I am happy your hair is growing in! Can you bring me some good luck my way with the hair growth. I swear mine is caused by stress and by hormones being messed up from my low weight.

The haircoloring I used (I think it was Natural Instincts by L'Oreal) made my hair so LIMP---and I already had fine, straight hair! I loved the color, but couldn't do a thing with my hair because it was so limp. My hairdresser told me just the opposite---that these products coat the hair shaft, making your hair thinner.

She said in order to get more body, you need to use something with peroxide in it. So I go (and pay a fortune!) at the salon to have my hair highlighted---and it does give it a lot more body!

Now, did I confuse everyone even more?

My hair feels TONS thicker with the color. And my Mom's hair is thinning and graying, she goes in to get hers highlighted to soften the gray and also because it adds so much fullness/thickness to it. Both salon coloring, mind you - I'm not sure in your situation I'd do anything at home!

Hugs babe!

to have a professional opinion first. I didn't but I have extremely healthy hair and lots of it. Dyeing doesn't cause MY hair any trouble but like with our tummies, everyone is different.
