It is VERY hard. As Tommy said the neurologist was so surprised that I was able to finish high school and complete college, twice. The first time I went to school for social work for 2 years. The second time I went for another 2 years for graphics.
The best way I can describe it to people is to imagine what you feel like getting up at 3am for a pee. You're totally out of it and are slower and def half asleep! That's how I feel EVERY morning. To say it's tough is the understatement of the year.
Maybe there's some specialist that I'll meet one day that will be able to help me. The MRI did not reveal anything that could help them treat me.
And if it wasn't for my ibs I could drink coffee which would help me out a lot. Oh well. That's life.
Thanks for your support Linz, you're a pal.

I know the commercials ARE annoying. The only one I've seen is the factory worker that suddenly gets the call that her mom's condition has deteriorated.

The first sentence in my post is:
Mostly because I have "super bad chronic insomnia". My boss is on my case about it again. What a pain!
But it's good to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Sounds like how I feel after a night of the kids waking me up every 2 hours - you never get into a decent deep sleep so you feel wrecked the next morning. I spend the next day in my pj's and not going anywhere if I can help it so I sure empathize!
I guess since she is obviously one of those "anal" people about every couple minutes, it's good that it's been brought to your attention. Between now and when you get to (woo hoo!) quit you can rub it in her face best by being there 5 minutes early whenever possible! Then she won't know what to complain about anymore.

Michelle

One of my pet peeves about myself is that I am late often. Not VERY late, more like 5-15 min. And I have no medical cause! Yes, I wake up earlyish (5:30), and barely feel awake, but that's just normal grogginess---I'm a pretty good sleeper. I'm lucky to have a flexible job where it doesn't really matter. And I'm never late to appointments, usually just stuff like meeting people out, etc. I never complain about people not waiting for me, or anything. I know it's my problem. And granted, sometimes things just happen that you don't expect. Like.....catching a train at a crossing, or bad traffic, or a change in plans, or someone calling on your way out the door. It's hard to plan your life expecting "the unexpected" that way. Anyway, I think there are worse things than being a little late, especially when you have a diagnosed illness. I know a lot of people who get special treatment because of an illness. Certainly where i Work (the government) this is more common. And if your work is good, it should be worth it to the employer to give you some leeway on that.
But I'm of the frame of mind that jobs that make people clock in and out (in an office setting!!), are watched like hawks, have to abide by rules just for the sake of having rules (not saying attendance is one of these, I'm thinking strict dress code when you sit at a desk all day), just make people bitter employees. My job is flexible, my boss is flexible, my work environment is an easy one, so I'm pretty happy, and never stress out about work. I know too many people who hate their jobs because of their boss or the overbearing "rules" they have to abide by.
Anyway, my two rambling cents.

I am late for things other than work but not as often. It's only early morning things that I'm absolutely no good at. I'm 100% fine if it's in the afternoon, evening or night.
I think my work is great, I get a lot of compliments for the departments that I design stuff for.
Take my co-worker, he has not done a stitch of work since 9am. It's now almost 11am and he spent most of the morning talking to a co-worker about how their property taxes went up. He is now in my bosses office and has been in her office for at least 45 mins talking about non work-related stuff (garage doors, etc)
So for her to bug me about being 3 mins late is crazy when the guy in her office has not worked for the past 2 HOURS!!!! Plus he comes in at 7:30am and surfs the web for an hour while he eats his breakfast. She should be on HIS case not mine. But they're "friends" so it will never happen!
This place is too much. Very bad management!!!!

Yeah, that's what I mean. You are obviously a good worker, what is 5 minutes in the grand scheme of life? ESPECIALLY when you have a legitimate reason that isn't just rudeness, or laziness. Your boss must just have something against you for some reason. Most reasonable people I know would be able to look at the big picture and see that you are a valuable employee, but she's just stuck on this tardiness thing and won't see past it.
well, all you can do is try to get there on time, and if you really try and it doesn't happen, don't stress. Life is too short to worry about things like that!!
