Oy....another hurricane!

People in my neighborhood are buying up all of the water in our local grocery stores. Though I am 40+ miles from Galveston (a potential Rita target) my boss just told me that they were without electricity for three days the last time one of this strength hit the area.
I have plenty of water and cup-of-noodles...I guess I may bake some muffins.
I suppose with all we saw with Katrina, everyone here is trying to prepare as much as possible. I wonder where the balance is between preparation and paranoia?
My heart really goes out to the folks from Louisiana...the thought of dealing with another hurricane so soon must be a bit much.

Mac's parents live in Houston, and his sister is a bit north at Sam Houston for her freshmen year, but Mac's in Turkey until Saturday. I'm definitely going to make him call them as soon as he gets back in the country to check on them!
Hope everyone in Rita's path is prepared and will be ok!

It is always better to be prepared and not have anything happen then not be prepared and something terrible happen. I an't believe that this thing is going to hit Texas and taht is where a lot of the New orleans refugees were bused to. Unbelieveable. Lets pray this d@mn storm weakens and does not cause considerable damage. That is what I am praying for.

Mac's sister should be fine. The mayor is on TV right now telling people in certain areas to go. We are north of Houston but are totally prepared for the storm...I haven't purchased anything I won't use, have gas (petroleum...not tummy gas ha ha), food, water, batteries, candles and so forth.
My nerves are somewhat shot but other than that, we are OK.
Prayers are welcome....

We are staying put...I have a tank full of gas, water, food, plants in the garage and so forth. We are in good shape...just waiting.
The schools are all closed until further notice...the traffic from Galveston is here. It is sad...people are being ugly in grocery store lines and honking at the gas stations, my friend had a woman snatch bottled water out of her hands! It is amazing how silly people get when they are panicked.
For all of you praying folks...please lift our entire city up. We have folks from Louisiana who are going thru their second hurricane in a month!
Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes!

I can't believe this storm is up to a category 5. This is unbelievable! I feel for all the people in its path. Better leave for this one---rather than risk it!
Stay safe, everyone!!!!
