Question for ya!! I've been working on my husband and I think I'm REALLY close to him letting me get a dog. I learned about labradoodles a while back, and then you got one and I remembered I liked them! My question...what type of coat does yours have? I've been doing my research on them and it seems coats vary---shedding wise, and non-allergenic wise. We'd want as close to no shedding as possible. I am so excited! Hopefully by the end of the year we'll have one.....

Samwise is what they call a F1B labradoodle. That means one parent was a Labradoodle and the other a Poodle. That gives him the no-shed, fleecy coat (love it, everyone who touches him comments on how soft he is). A good breeder will understand these things and help you pick a pup that matches your needs. Samwise does not shed AT ALL and when I brush him I get less hair off than I get off myself brushing my own hair!

I have a Lhasa-apso/poodle (although people tell us hes a bishon frise...but we bought him as a lhasa-poo) and he is hypoalergenic and doesnt shed very much. A few hairs here and there, but its great. So the poodle part of the labradoodle should be good!

Poodles are no-shed. And some terriers are very low-shed too...I know Welsh Teriers hardly shed a hair, but I guess maybe you don't have those?

It does also vary from dog to dog. Archie doesn't shed much, but our last dog (also a ESS) shedded loads.

Ok, I thought that the F1B is what I'd be interested in...but I just wanted to hear someone else's experienced. That's the type of dog/coat I definitely want. Now that I know that much, I can start contacting breeders. I'm so excited!! Now if only husband will offically agree....
