I've probably mentioned this before, but my boss and I recently moved our office into a historic house that he bought - and its absolutely gorgeous. It was designed and built in 1910 by a famous female architect named Julia Morgan (she also designed the famous Hearst Castle in CA!). We're planning to turn it into offices (which is the trend on the street that its on.. its one of the few remaining houses) but keep as much of it historic as possible.
Most of the fixtures, pipes, and wiring is original and barely anything has been tampered or redone. The wood is beautiful as the first owner was the president of a wood manufacturing company.
Anyways.. we have our demo guys over here taking up carpets and stripping wallpaper and we just discovered gorgeous hardwood floors in our entry way!
So for all you old house lovers, here are a few pictures. Keep in mind that before we moved in, the house had been vacant for 10 years. The previous owner was a chiropractor and had his office and residence here for over 50 years.
This is the main entrance to the house. I took this picture today before they took up the carpet and plastic flooring.
Here's another picture of the front. This is where I stood to take the first picture, so just imagine me turning 180 degrees to get this one. Again, before the carpet was taken up. The doors lead to an enclosed poorch or "sunroom". Bob's wife put the fabric up to hide all the previous owner's stuff.
And the last picture I'll post for now is a little bit of the kitchen. We're going to turn it into a functioning kitchen (woohoo for me and my lunches! LOL), but still not sure how we want to fix it up yet.

The water is turned off for all of today and tomorrow!
But my boss lives around the corner and I have his house key so I have one available, just a hassle. LOL
It got turned off yesterday at 3pm, which I was fine with until of course at 3:30pm when I suddenly had to go!

Yeah, this is turning out to be such a fun project! When we first looked at the place, we were bowled over by how gorgeous and fun it looked. But then as time went on, it became more of a "crap, that's gonna cost money to do that.." and "how are we going to do that?" But now that things are starting to get fun again now that the work is getting done!
I will probably end up making a section on my boss' website with before and after photos.
