until I get married! So many others have been having such a hard time as of late that I feel kind of guilty posting about the good things going on in my life. But, maybe some joy is what is needed?! It is my first marriage and I am sure that I got it right so I am so excited. Also a bit overwhelmed but I know that it will be worth it in the end. We're honeymooning in California for 8 days too so I am absolutely stoked! A bit nervous about the IBS flaring up but I think I am prepared with my acacia and Immodium! They have been lifesavers for me!

I will be sure to post pics. I am nervous about what some of the reception is going to be from others b/c we are doing things totally our way. Outside wedding with only 25 guests, large reception (about 460 people invited!!), we're serving ice cream instead of cake, no tuxes- just shirts and ties, my dress is black, not white. I think that some people see it as disrespectful (I live in an area where customs are a pretty big deal) but I wanted it to be things that we truly enjoy. If I went to the store and picked out my dream dress, it would be the dress I am wearing.

I feel that that's how it should be. Our wedding was less than traditional... we got married in our bare feet on the beach in Jamaica. I was wearing a white sundress, and he was wearing a white shirt with kacky shorts. We both just had one person standing up for us and no guests. It was the most relaxing, most wonderful time I have ever had in my life! We had our reception back here in the states at our house. Neither of us regrets any of it, and we'd do it all exactly the same way if we had to do it again.
Don't worry about what anybody else thinks... it's YOUR wedding, not theirs. It should be the way YOU want it!!! I get so angry when certain people in the family (on either side) feel as though they need to decide what's best for you! You're the ones that have to live with the memories... they should be good ones and not stressful!
PS - After thinking about my response... I feel that I should clarify that this doesn't mean that I don't think that tradition can be beautiful as well. However, I personally feel that it should be up to the bride & groom as to how their wedding should go, regardless of whether or not they agree with tradition.

We had a vegetarian barbeque and played ultimate frisbee for the reception (which I attended in tan shorts and a blue tank top). We had a great wedding!

I remember thinking - aw I have two weeks - tons of time - then suddenly there I was laying in bed the night before - thinking about all that could possibly go wrong LOL
Here's my tips for your big day!
Enjoy it - whatever doesn't get done doesn't matter - all the super important stuff is there - you, the groom, DJ, food, alcohol, etc...anything else is just nice extras. Don't stress it and completely enjoy it!!
Can't wait to see pics!!!
