Hope they help. Remember that SF and herbal teas and heat pads can also be very helpful for out of the blue attacks. Try and use everything you can and it'll work best.

Also, if you have D, I'd take Immodium as well.

It is not uncommone. If you read some of Heather's books. I can't remember which one, but she talks about having one attack a year in which she is treated with Vicodin. So I know that it works. I have been treated with Vicodin. The only problem you really have to watch out for is that it can cause C. Just be careful. Hope you feel much better soon.

LOL! The vicodin works really well for me for D attacks. I bite the pills in half so as not to get too buzzed when I'm in mixed company. I get a lot of pain with my D attacks, but none at all if I become C from too much medicine. I relish the times I'm C for that reason (plus I don't have to worry about poo flying outta my butt every time I let go of gas, LOL!). Vics rock.

...like in citrucel or acadia. SF gives me cramps though, although it helps many others on this board and is a staple of Heather's diet.

Do you take Imodium? Try doubling up on a dose if one or two pills doesn't help you. It's not addicting and doesn't interfere with other meds.

Hum....I must've missed that in Heather's book. I will have to go back and look that up.

Sounds like you have a caring doctor that will stay on top of things.

I was just prescribed vicodin, but the bottle says hydrocodone/apap 5 mg/500 mg tabs. What does all that jibberish mean? Which is it...5 mg or 500 mg? What is apap?

Also, is this a low dose? It does help but I feel fine...not "high" at all. Just tired.

I'm pretty sure that the 5mg refers to how much narcotic is in the pill, and the 500mg refers to how much acetaminophen is in the pill. Not 100% sure but that'd be my guess
