new to ibs group--hello!

Just wanted to introduce myself properly. I usually just browse the site without writing anything, but i thought, why not go for it? I'm 23, and have had ibs since I was 17. I am also lactose intolerant and have recently been diagnosed with delayed gastric emptying (gastroparesis). I am pursuing my master's degree and was almost done when my ibs flared up pretty bad and i was diagnosed with the gp. As a result I've had to put my thesis on hold and have moved in with my parents for the summer so i can get better medical assistance. (So now i currently live in Maryland). I have looked through the entire site and have some of the books, so i am pretty aware of all that. Right now I guess what I'm looking for is people that can empathize with me and also talk about regular things with. My family is not very understanding, but I do have a boyfriend who is very wonderful about all of this, but he doesn't live here.  Anyways, i have rambled long enough  From reading the posts, I can see that you all are very nice, and I hope you'll welcome me!!

Welcome. It's a shame you needed to find us, but given that, welcome to the best place (inc in reality! LOL) for people with IBS. This site and Heather have been amazing for me abd I hope they are for you too.
