Oh, Shelby, I'm so glad you went to see the doctor. I hope the cortisone shot didn't hurt too much! If you have the insurance, I say see the hand doctor. Who knows, maybe there they'll be able to offer more indisht into getting a different treatment than your regular doctor offers. I hope that finger's straight in no time!
I had a piano teacher who got that too, and for her it was very painful. You know what she tried? Acupuncture! Her medical insurance even paid for a part of it. It was unbearable for her not being able to play piano, so for her it was a 100% success. She said she couldn't watch the pins going in, but that they were very understanding and the treatment was not at all uncomfortable. I guess you never know what might work!!
Good luck!!!!

Boy, does that go beYOND dedication! Can you do a double payroll, or have them submit timesheets estimating their time for the next week? If the surgery's paid, you've just got to do it!! What would they do it the payroll specialist got pregnant, or died suddenly? There's got to be a fallback plan, or if there isn't, this is a good time to instigate one!!
Which hand is it? Your writing hand? The hand you put under your head whan you sleep? The hand you swat flies with?
I played concert piano from the ages of 6 to 16, and we were always feigning hand and finger injuries so we couldn't play in competition. Just something we did cos we were so stressed waiting for our turn. We'd slameach other's hands in the keyboard with the cover and check them to see if they were turning blue or swelling. Parents, don't pressure your kids!!!
