Hey Guys,

Gotta quick question. For those of you following my posts, I've got a bunch of weird spots giving me trouble on my legs and under my arms. The last doc I saw said the ones on my legs looked like petachaie (broken blood vessels/bleeding under the skin) but was unsure about under my arms and thought it was potentially fungal. So, she prescribed an anti-fungal cream which I've been using for a week. Now, the spots under my arms are starting to look a lot more like the blood spots on my legs, and a lot less like a fungal infection. I can't get back to the doc for a few days...what do you think about continuing to use the cream? Does anyone know if it is a problem to put an anti-fungal cream on skin without a fungal infection?

Thanks!
Kelly

Hi,

Sometimes if I have questions about a medication but can't get back to the Doctor for a few days I ring a pharmacist and ask them about it. Would that be an option for you?

I wouldn't think that fungal cream would be too dangerous but wouldn't like to suggest that for sure seeing I don't have a medical degree!

Best of luck,
Kerrie

Kelly, I HAVE THE SAME THING! It's a terrible itchy rash, only mine is under my boobs. I've had it FOREVER! It's awful, and the itch keeps me awake at night. I posted about this quite a few months ago.

My doc thought it was just a fungus, so he suggested I get some over-the-counter anti-fungal ointment like the stuff for athlete's foot. I went through three tubes of that damn stuff, and it did NOTHING!

I went back to the doc and said, "Hey, it didn't work -- I need something better!" He prescribed "Elocon" cream (now it's called "Mometasone Furoate"). Ironically, it's the same stuff he prescribed for my Shingles. The stuff works! I got rid of the rash under my boobs, but after a few months it started coming back, so I quickly used it again. I'm on my second tube (refill), and I'm almost itch-free.

Call your doc and tell him you wanna try the "Mometasone Furoate .1%" cream.

Bev

Thanks for your post Bev. I actually don't think it's likely what we have is the same thing, because mine doesn't itch or bother me at all. That's what is so weird about it, most fungal infections itch but I wouldn't even know mine was there if it wasn't so unsightly. I can mention the cream to the doc, but I think I'll probably be needing more tests before they decide how to treat it this time
