1. I have got a new part-time job at a local kennels and cattery. The wages are terrible, but it is outdoors and doing what I love the most - and would do for free if I could afford to! I can also fit any freelance work I get around it.

2. I have been volunteering at a rescue kennels which is brilliant and very rewarding as you feel that you are actually doing some good in your life.

3. My little cat Leo has just had the best test results ever back from the vet - and we now know it is definately the auto-immune disorder he has. Bad news is that this is potentially incurable and he may only live a few years - but thats better than him dying at xmas, which he nearly did.

4. Tara has a job interview tomorrow (fingers crossed)

5. I feel less panicky and depressed than I have in a long time - working outdoors with the four legged friends definately helps!

As you can see i am a little animals obsessed, but it is only now that I have let myself work with them. I have always wanted too, but was put off by parents (although they didn't force me) who obviously wanted me to go to uni and get a higher paid job.

Woo hoo, here's to living on the breadline. Stony broke but happy at last!

Good news indeed! As someone who worked for 42 years, I can tell you from experience that the most rewardings jobs I held were those that paid the least and those I remember most. I know we work for money, but we need to be happy in our jobs; if we aren't, then all the money in the world ain't gonna make us happy.

Good for you, Cath!

Bev

I've applied for a position as a Trainee Veterinary Nurse so cross your fingers for me too! Being happy is so much more important than earning loads. As long as you can pay for a roof over your head and food in your tum, then who cares?

There's a LOT to be said for being flat broke but happy with what you're doing! It's a lot less stressful in a lot of ways, and for us, that's one of the most important things. Glad to hear Leo's doing better too. Yay!

And good luck to Tara tomorrow!

Best of luck, sounds like something you would love. How long before you find out if you are accepted and how long is the training?

I would love to do something outdoors, I was only saying the other day about what it would be like to be in forestry or something like that - shame we have 4 cold seasons of the year... Great news I'm really pleased x

I don't know! I only saw the ad at the end of last week and sent my CV in at the beginning of this week. The training is on the job and then day release...I'd love to get this job! Well, any job would be great right now, but this would be so cool. Fingers so crossed they hurt!
