I did, and I was very disappointed with it! It was ok, but nothing spectacular. Oprah produced it, and she had been advertising it for weeks. Halle Berry played a great role, but I thought her last lover was not very good-looking (in fact, I thought he was gross looking!). He was way too young for her, and looked like some punk she found in the gutter.
The story line got really slow in parts, and I was so ready for it to be over. (The storm scene was dumb. If they were too stupid to leave whenever else did, I think they deserved to die!) .....And goodness, her lover foaming at the mouth. Come on!!!
I never would've watched it if I'd known it wasn't going to be over until 11:30 p.m. What a waste of my time!!! Sleep is more precious to me than that!
I'm interested to know what others thought.

And I agree with you - definitely nowhere near as good as it should have been or COULD have been.
I read the book back in high school and really liked it so I was excited for the past like 2 weeks to see this movie. To be honest with you I feel asleep on and off at like 10 and then I definitely fell asleep before it was over because I decided I'd read a book while I watched the end of it.
What a bummer!

I forgot about it, then watched about 15 min, decided it was boring, and went back to dealing with more family problems......does it ever end??? NOOOOO, IT NEVER ENDS!
Oprah said this is the best love story ever told. Maybe in her opinion. I don't pay too much attention to Oprah and whatever she thinks is important. I like to form my own opinions.

I've read the book, so I was excited about the movie. But I fell asleep 1/2 way through it. I was disappointed with Halle Berry's portrayal, because I just don't think she has enough charisma! Still, I'm sorry I missed the ending because I wanted to see how they carried it out--although it sounds like they made it rather silly.
I got tired of hearing Oprah declare this the greatest love story ever told because, IMHO (very humble), the story is greater than love. I thought it was more about society (black people making their own town during that time) and individualism (a woman doing what she wants, making the ultimate decisions)...

I actually watched it start to finish - I thought it was ok until the foaming at the mouth scene. I definitely think I need to read the book now. Oprah hyped it up too much I think, and we were all let down
