I think the yellow walls could really be fun. If you used more neutral colors I think it could help tone down the brightness of it. The black chair will look nice as will light wood colors and such. Did you say the place has wood floors? If the wood is in that room I suppose you wouldn't want to clash woods maybe, but that's one of those things you would have to see. You could add some olive/sage greens and brown shades too and those would look nice.

How fun to get to decorate a new place! Can't wait to hear more about it!

And maybe my twin Natalie will have some good thoughts on this too!

Thanls Brittany. I think I'll buy a beige sofa. the one in the link. yes, the place has hardwood floors, oak I think.

I do like brown with yellow a lot. That's a good suggestion.

It is fun decorating a new place!

Thanks!

Ooooh how exciting I love decorating....even though my degree is in interior design we dont do anything to do with the decoration but it excites me still. I would definately put some brown in with the yellow...and I like the idea of greens like brittany said....kind of earthy looking....you can deifnately make the room look fab...cant wait to see the end result!!

I like the brown and yellow too... but I like bright, bright, BRIGHT, and I'd totally play up the yellow by throwing in some rich red accents here and there. Not crayon red... blood red. But that's just me.

Decorating is so exciting!

That's a good idea Casey! Decorating is so much fun but I need to keep myself somewhat restrained. I'd love to go crazy but that's not practical. I love the idea that i can do ANYTHING I want.

I'm really looking forward to making the deck look pretty too. I will fill it with lots of flower boxes and it will be so lovely to sit out there. As you can probably tell, I can't wait now!

It makes ending things with my BF a tad bit easier knowing that I'm moving to a great place and not some whole in the wall.

your furniture is muted so play with the colour (am I right in imagining the colour of the emoticons??). I would get an interesting throw and cushions for the couch and keep fresh sunflowers as often as possible too
Deep dark red would be fab.

Second choice would be navy (I had bright yellow walls in a hall before and the carpet was navy and they worked great.

Brown and yellow is too 70s for me, Nat & Brittany I reckon you don't have an aversion to it cos you never wore brown dungarees and a mustard yellow polo neck jumper, LOVELY If would post the pic if I could!!! We also had a LOVELY yellow bedspread with brown flowers in nylon on my bed at home for most of my childhood. mmmm
Have fun with it!!

You know it's great that you have such a fabulous place to move into and something to look forward to in a way so that this break up isn't a complete downer. It will be such a nice way to really make a new start at things.

And I agree with Casey...definitely add some contrasty accents of color into the room. Even a strategically placed vase with vibrant colored flowers could really be nice. It would just go overboard I think to make everything really bright and colorful. A few well chosen accents would make the room perfect. I think red is a great choice, but just as a thought, purple is the compliment to yellow which then means that that would be the color that would stand out most, so even if you don't use purple exactly, things that have that hue a little would go well (like a red that leans towards the purple side as opposed to the orange side).

I definitely can't wait to see these pics when your place is done. How exciting!!
