I got a 2-year contract offer with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as a Project Manager! Yeaaaaa! The best part is I WORK FROM HOME!
I have to submit my pay requirements on Tuesday, so I actually need to prepare a budget for the contract. Yikes, actual work for my weekend!
Just wanted to post and let all you good people know! It'll be nice drawing an actual paycheck again. OK, bye!

I am totally freaked, cos I've always had an office before!!!! But I'm totally set up here, so there's no reason why I can't do it! It's just weird, being able to work in my pjs.
This IS an IBS-er's dream, you're right!!

It 'is' different, definitely.
I had a friend who did full-time graphic design from home (it was her own company) and it was a bit tricky. You just have to make sure that you put in your time and don't get distracted too easily. She did great at first but soon started staying out and partying until 3am and sleeping in until 2pm. Then she had to cram a bunch of designs in and have them look like she spent days or weeks on creating them. Oops.
But you've got a better head on your shoulders than she did.

.....now that's a scary thought! I'M JUST KIDDING, Nelly! I am so proud of you.
And you will love working from home. I did last year, and it was great. A cup of hot tea, my beagles in the chair behind me, staying in my pj's as long as I wanted .... it was great!!! And I could be washing clothes or running the dishwasher while I was working.
Congratulations! You go, girl!

Wow Nelly, that sounds great!! I am so happy for you. Now that I am back looking for work, I have been thinking how much I'd like to work from home for a while but I just haven't found anything. For a while, I did this 'project mapping' for this huge company and I could do it all from home and eMail.. so I could work at 2 am if I couldn't sleep and stuff. And I got paid really well! Unfortunately, it was only temporary and now you need a degree to do it, booo. Yay, that sounds so great for you! Congrats!!! --Steph

No, not until next week. As I said, had a wee bit too much to drink Fri night. I will celebrate Nelly's job on Friday... I am going to see a U2 cover band (U2 my favorite band of all time)Friday night with the boys. Should be a good time and I'll do a silent toast for Nelly that night with a pint of Guinness in my hand

My old boyfriend, the one I said you look like..his all time favorite band is U2 also. His all time favorite song in high school was "Still haven't found what I'm looking for" pertaining to finding the right girl. See he only wanted a brunette with dark eyes. Funny seems he ended up marrying a strawberry blond with blue eyes!! See how standards change!

Yes, and I've had a month and a half off now too! It was by word of mouth, cos I got it from a friend of a friend. You never know who's going to help you find work! It came out of nowhere! I'd applied there in October, but hadn't heard anything...!

I'm trepidatious about working from home, as I am a slack-off who works in intense periods of activity, with long, slovenly periods of slacker time. But it'll be great for my tummy, that's sure! Project managers unite!

I have to go in there on Tuesday to present the preliminary budget for the project, and smile at people.

Yay Nelly I hope it works out!! That sounds like it would be an amazing job!!
You know it's funny...I don't know if you're a Simpsons fan, though you strike me as the kind of person that would be, but it makes me think of the episode where Homer decides that he wants to work from home instead of at the nuclear plant by becoming clincally obese..so he gains all the weight and has to wear these funny dresses since that's all that fits. And his fingers become too fat to punch to keys so he has to use a stick..but then decides it's too redundant he'd rather watch TV and just sets up one of those little bird things that bob up and down to peck the keys for him while he sits with a beer and watchs TV. So then he decides to go out and do something and leaves the bird there working and something happens and the bird gets knocked over and the nuclear tower things overheat and are going to explode so he sees the problem and rushes over and the only way he can stop it is to lodge his obese body in the top of the tower thing.
LOL..wow that was a large synopsis ANYWAYS!! Good luck - and let that be a lesson to ya and keep us posted!!

yay! You are simply amazing, hasn't it only been about a month that you were out of work? Working from home, OoooOOoohhhh... not for me though, Iwould turn too much into a recluse, I need to force myself to be around people. Part of the reason why I don't take internet classes for school. Good luck!

Oooh idea! You'll have to get one of those white hardhat helmets with the radioactive symbol on them. Then take a picture in your pajamas with the hard hat and make a card with that picture on the front. Send it to the company that laid you off and write inside "Thanks for everything!".
Heh.. anyways, congrats and enjoy your new job!

Hey Sheri! You know, it's so funny but I was just thinking that!! It turns out I'll be managing 7 field engineers, all retired DoE people, and since they don't have offices, that's the reason I'm not being offered one! But you're right, I do so well when I'm out of the house... I'm afraid I'll just revert to my natural slacker self if left to my own devices!!
You guys will have to kick me in the butt if I'm sending out lazy vibes!!!!
