Oh dear i need help!!! Ok this might be a long post so i hope you have time lol .... ok my name is Caitlyn and i am almost 16yrs old ... I suffered through an eating disorder and i still am and it has been really difficult for me to have a healthy diet yet still gain weight so i basically eat high caloric foods because i need to gain weight. In the last 2 months or so i have been having bad problems with my stomach....i get severe pain below my left rib that can at times leave me on the floor in pain ... the first time it happened i thought my appendix burst until i realized my appendix was on my right side. I get these pains still but they are not as intense i typically hobble to the bathroom and sit there until something happens. For the past 4 days my stomach has been the most frustrating thing in the world (to the point where i was to stab it and cut it out because i hate it with a passion) it hurts on and off all day and i am typically laying down ... this has really messed up with my eating and i am not afraid to eat and this is NOT good because i need to gain another 12lbs to be at a healthy weight and now with this its making all my efforts go to crap .... it hurts all the time when i eat or when i dont .... its like it senses when im chewing because the minute i swallow HERE COME THE PAINS....its very frustrating and is not helping my depression....i am deemed the hypochondriac with constipation and needs to eat better...well thanks but you know that really does not help ... i hope someone can help me if not replying on here (im computer retarded so it might take me a few times to figure out how to read replies) please email me at ZzCaItLyNzZ@aol.com thanks to all who read this .... the pain is there as i type.

...to see a GI doc and get properly diagnosed. Book an appointment to see your GP immediately and tell them what's been happening and don't leave until you have a referral to the (GI) specialist.

Check out Heather's breaking the cycle hints...that diet might help you. And remeber to eat tiny portions, really slowly!

Good luck

Hi and welcome. Sorry about the pain I think all of us can really relate to that type of pain. Now ,I think that you should make an appointment with your doctor. There are so many problems that can give this same type of pain. IBS is diagnosed when every thing has been ruled out. Also look through this website, There are many recipes and foods here that can help you gain weight but will not produce the abdominal pain. Good luck.

...yourself if neccessary. You're old enough to know if something's wrong and when health issues are caused by different things. If your Mum persists in refusing to take you to the doctor, go yourself.
