I have had a really hard time giving up popcorn. I LOVE popcorn. Last time I ate it though I had a bad D/cramps attack for 3 days afterwards. Ugh.
I think if I get brave enough to try it again, I'll have 1-2 cups only (instead of the whole microwave bag! ) and eat it after a IBS safe dinner.
Sometimes I get discouraged because I miss certain things sooooooo much... the things I miss the most are
Tillamook Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese Parmesan Cheese Mozarella Cheese Havarti Cheese Brie Cream Cheese Cottage Cheese Ok...any kind of cheese! Things made with cheese...lasagna, manicotti, omelets, etc. Yogurt Frozen Yogurt French Fries Potato Chips Sodas Hamburgers Pork Chops
I know, I know, there are soy/rice substitutes for many of these things, but they just don't taste the same. They are edible, but wow do I miss the real things!

Well it's not really bad for me but I've tried numerous times to stop biting my nails. I did it once for my wedding and that's the last time I did it (13years ago). It's such a terrible habbit and it looks terrible too! Women should have long nails!!!!

Beer and the occasional bad take-away. Beer makes me gassy so I shouldn't go there, but I like it. And sometimes I'm REALLY bad and get takeaway fish'n'chips - it's hard being a bit more tolerant of fat levels...I've pushed the limit too far loads of times.

Hi Tia,
WOW, you have a good memory! Yep, I was drinking a coffee substitute called SoyFee; if you do a search, you'll find a lot of posts about it. I drank the stuff for about six months. It has many healthy benefits, and of all the coffee substitutes I tried, it's by far the best. If you've given up coffee and you really miss the stuff, give SoyFee a try. I tried to convince myself that SoyFee was every bit as good as coffee -- you'll read that in my posts -- and I don't want to discourage you, but after a very long time of consuming the stuff, I had enough.
My big mistake was having a sip of the incredible coffee at ihop. Then another sip. It's a terrible 42-year addiction that I can't seem to kick; of everything I've had to give up, coffee has been the most difficult. (Sorry, I know this is not encouraging for you.)
I'm stable now, such that I very seldom have an attack. Coffee is one of the things I returned to. I bought a very tiny drip brewer that makes only two cups, one for me and one for my husband. After the real stuff, I brew decaf, one for me and one for my husband. So all I have in one day are two cups, one regular and one decaf. Oftentimes I end up with cramps, but they're minor and don't last long. I have chocolate soy milk beforehand, though, which I heat up in the mike (as cocoa), THEN I have my coffee. If I go out to a restaurant, like ihop, I don't have coffee at home, because theirs is the best anywhere. I have two cups at ihop, and even with the Equalactin I end up with cramps -- but, again, they're minor and don't last long. To me, it's worth it.
I know this is bad -- I certainly don't encourage it -- but you should know that, before Heather got ahold of me, I was brewing coffee in our 12-pot coffeemaker every day and drinking more than half of it over a very long period of time, easily 42 years when I was working. So I'm actually pretty proud of being able to restrict myself to only 1-2 cups a day. I shouldn't say that here, should I?
I'm sorry you're not feeling well, Tia, and I strongly recommend you stay clear of coffee until you get stable. It will happen, you just have to be patient. When I have an attack, I lay off the coffee and turn to my Tummy Mint tea (and of course my meds) until the attack is long gone.
Good luck.
Bev

I may give the soyfee a shot. I am one who drinks coffee for the flavor and not the caffeine. I managed to break my daily habit in three weeks with only one headache and a few bouts of extreme fatigue. I do cheat every once in a while and have a cup...I think the peppermint mochas from starbucks are what helped cause this latest bout. Breaking myself was hard and I was only drinking 2 -3 cups a day for 12 years...YES we should be proud of ourselves and feel free to brag on ourselves!
I appreciate your good wishes and your mama-like concern. This has been a frustrating 6 weeks and my husband though loving is so tired of hearing about my cramps and I KNOW my poofy belly isn't very attractive!
It's nice to have friends in common!
Hugs...

I would go through about $25.00 worth per month! I guess I will plan to live without.
Did you buy one of those press things or did you brew it in a coffee maker? I may break down one day and buy some.

When I was first diagnosed, the doctor took me off the pill and caffiene immediately. I was D at the time, and with the antispasmodic, noticed a HUGE change. However, I've been on the pill almost 10 years now, and everything is changing! I just think it would help to give them up, but it's just too darn convenient!

Ice Cream. I know they make soy ice cream and I have tried it but some how it is just not as good as Breyer's. I have a small bowl of ice cream every night. But for some strange reason I can seem to handle dairy except butter and milk. I don't over do it but I can eat small portions of cheese, sour cream, and ice cream.
