Just kidding. But I did get my hair chopped off this morning:
I love it! Even if it does mean that my ears are freezing all the time, heh.
Pardon the silly picture... I couldn't be bothered to put makeup on, and I had a cat crawling all over my lap and jiggling the camera, so this was the best attempt.

Ooh very nice!! It's scary how much you remind of someone I know here and now this haircut is so similar too!
Good luck keeping your ears warm!! Now you need another new profile pic with this great new hair!

I have no guts when it comes to my hair....I have really long hair, and last month I got long layers - I couldn't even watch! I was freaking out....and it's not like they cut THAT much off! Some people just look good with short hair - you're lucky!

Very nice Casey!
* Oh ya, I should mention I had hair that short once. My friend decided to chop all my hair off because I was too 'cliche' as a woman to have long hair. I went along with it as I was game. Well, she's not a hairdresser and butchered my hair. My BF took one look at my new hairdo and used his clippers on the longest setting and "fixed" my hair. I wore a hat the first week but got used to it. And I did get some complimenst but I missed my long hair.
It looks great on you!

My sentiments echo everone else's Casey! Very cute, very brave of you,(I'm such a woos) , and if you look that good without makeup, wow!
I'm so glad you like it! But as you said, in those cold Maine nights and days, you may just have to use one of those knitted hats you make. You know heat leaves the body through the head. You'll have to wear one of those night caps like they did in the olden days, like Mary and Laura Ingalls from Little House on the Praire, or was that before your time?
Also, also wish I was one of the lucky ladies who looked good with ultra short hair. It's gonna be so easy for you. What made you decide to do it? I know it is difficult for you to make decisions (like me)!

Just kidding, of course. It was boredom, mostly. I'm 100% completely and totally fearless when it comes to my hair. It's been every length imaginable and every color of the rainbow except blue. I've had it this short before, so it really wasn't much of a decision... looking at photos from 5 years ago clinched it for me.
As for the hat... I always wear a hat when I go out anyway, because I'm always so darn cold! But I'm about 15 minutes' worth of knitting away from finishing a super thick wool hat with earflaps - I decided on that one about 10 minutes after I got my hair cut, and I stepped out into the -35 wind chill. LOL!
Little House on the Prairie was my favorite thing as a kid! I watched the show, I read the books over and over. I wanted to *be* Laura, hehe. With the night sweats, though, I doubt I'll have to resort to a nightcap!

was my favorite show too! I wanted Pa to be my dad so badly. And I was Mary and my sister always was Laura when we played. I wanted to be Mary because I felt bad for her since Laura seemed to get all Pa's attention. I always go for the underdog!
When I watch reruns, now I like Laura. She's such a spit fire and she fights for what she wants! I have the collection of their videos and still watch them. As they say, they just don't make those kind of shows anymore!
And this has nothing to do with your cool new hair, but I get excited when I find out I have something in common with someone I already adore so much.

Casey, I think we're a lot alike. I just got my hair highlighted not even a month ago. A couple of days later a lot of the colour she put on came out and I didn't like it as much. Plus I found the colour was much too light for my complexion.
So what did I do last night at 10 pm? I dyed my hair BRIGHT RED and cut my bangs myself. And since my hair was almost blonde in some areas, the red is pretty intense. As for cutting my bangs myself, I wish you could come fix them for me. They're straight but VERY short. My BF just laughed at me this morning asking me why I changed my hair AGAIN when I just had it done a month a ago?
Ok, here's a pic of it.

You are very brave!! I wish I had the guts to do that...I have been cutting my hair shorter and shorter, but I am too chicken to go that far...I've always wondered what it would look like. It looks great on you!
BTW, the Laura Ingalls Wilder books were my favorites when I was little, too. My parents read them aloud to my sister and me all the time and we loved it!

Are the books still popular with the kids these days?
I think that show made me cry almost every episode! Happy tears with all that love. Yes, simpler times when getting a penny and a candy cane for Christmas made their eyes light up and entertainment was listening to Pa play the fiddler.
Oh, I miss that show. Happy memories for me!

Yes my kids seem to still like them. Girls more than boys but this year I did have a few closet readers of boys who ended up really liking them. I think they were afraid they might be considered girlie if they read them. I started watching the episodes again last year at this time because I was home on maternity leave and it was a cold winter. So with a new baby I had plenty of time to watch them. With the hormones of post pregnancy I bawled at all of them. But then again I bawl at them no matter what!

that even with all the modern computers and cell phones, the kids can still appreciate the stories.
Do you remember the episode when Laura goes up to the mountain after her baby brother died to wait for God to "trade her in " for her brother back. Then she finds that cross floating in the creek and the mysterious angel appears. Pa finally finds her and all ends well. Oh, that was a tear jerker one for me. But like I said before, most of them were tear jerkers for me. Just made you feel good after watching the innocent, simple love and life they led.

that was so sad! I think I bawled through the whole thing! I always loved the Christmas ones. Especially the one where Pa is caught in the blizzard and has to eat almost all the chrismtas stuff to stay alive. But he saves a few things and they are so excited with just that little bit. A far cry from todays kids who come back and tell me they got X-box, gameboy advance, tv's, mp3 players and other things like that for Chrismtas!
Well I am signing off to go and watch my third movie this weekend since we have been snowed in! Have a good weekend Beth!

Casey, you have such a beautful bone structure in your face. I love your cheekbones! And Sara-Sage, I'm actually a big fan of the short fringe.. I think of it as quite a Wellington look (a little artsy, maybe the equivalent would be San Francisco?)... and I love the colour!
I'm too afraid to touch my hair. I've been growing it out from a crop about Casey's length, and now I have this incredible mullet, because the back bits come down further than the top bits. I'm keeping it in pigtails until it's all long enough to cut into a bob. I've been tempted to dye it, but the reason I cut it was because I was sick of dyeing it... so I'll have to give it some careful thought!

Sweetie, you're not baldy! You're a knock-out. Every time I come into the Living Room and see you, you look more beautifuler than before. Amazing how you can wear so many different hairdos and look just as good with each.
The color of your hair is absolutely FANTASTIC. Very, VERY pretty. (But I am curious as to why you chopped it all off.) You cut your hair, I grew mine out. Why do you suppose we take all our frustrations out on our heads?
By the way, you Mainer you -- tell me, aren't you sorry now that you whined about not having any snow the last time I was here? Hmmmmm?

You colored it yourself? Great job!!! Maybe I should try doing it myself. The only thing that stops me from highlighting my hair is the price the salons charge. But I'm too chicken to try it myself. I think highlighting may be a bit trickier to do on your own though. Not like you just cover the whole head like a shampoo.
Anyhow, just wanted to compliment your new look. Can't wait to see the next change in a month or so!

Hi Casey,
I love your new hairdo. What made you decide to cut it? I wish I could do that....sure would be a lot easier to take care of. Anyway, you always look great!
Hey, just get some ear-muffs and your ears won't be so cold.

Tina, I agree - that's some fabulous color! Gorgeous!
Beth, coloring your hair yourself is a piece of cake. I've been doing mine myself since I was 14. Yeah, highlighting is a bit trickier - I won't even attempt that without someone to help me - but if the bug ever bites ya, go a shade or two lighter than your natural color, and try Garnier Nutrisse (that's the brand I've been using for 6 or 7 years now, and their colors turn out almost exactly what they show on the box). It's fun!

I get tired of having my hair the same for more than a few months at a time. Like I said to Beth down a little lower in the thread, my hair's been every length and almost every color, including lots not found in nature. I'm pretty fearless when it comes to my hair. I woke up that morning, decided I needed a change, and went down the street to the salon - just like that.
I have a hat with earflaps now. No more cold ears!

Yep, dying hair yourself is easy. Just don't dye your hair brown if it's blonde or it will go green. And don't go too many shades lighter or darker unless you want a very extreme change.
I doubt I'll get my hair highlighted again. It's just way too damaging and fries the hair right out!

Wow casey, I echo everyone in that you are one of the very few that can pull off the short 'do, that cut was invented for people like you! Tina, that color is very pretty! I used to dye my hair red (all different shades). Some looked really bad cause of my light skin. If I had the money I would chnage my hair every month! I usually get it highlighted and lowlighted with blond and redish brown or red. Well, in the fall/winter anyways. It creates a nice harvesty look, I begged my hairstylist to do it last year and he was quite impressed with the results. I love my stylist, he is so talented, but he never wants to do anything extreme or outrageous enough. I used to dye my hair at home and always messed it up! Last time I dyed my hair red I bleached it first to make it RED, like cartoon character red. Well, it was RED for a week or two, unitl it faded to PEACH!!! Before I dyed my hair red, I tried dying it pink, but it didn't take. I am handicapped at this stuff! I can't even style it right, it looks so nice when I leave the salon, then the next day I can't get it to do the same thing.
But, again, love your new looks!
