Everybody's animals are so cute- even the snake (as long as its in the picture!)

Here are mine (they are very large):

This is our newest, our guinea pig Neil. He's about 4 months old now.

This is our kitty Riley- he's about 4. We got him from a rescue organization when he was three. He loves everybody. And I mean LOVES you- kisses and all.

This is our dog Charlie. He's goofy, and since he has no back hip joints he galoomphs about.

And this is Cara. She has IBS too. Plus, when I get sick at night she stays up all night with me and lets me know I'm not alone.

I think it's so cool to adopt from shelters and refuge centers. And your dog sitting with you during bad IBS attacks, animals are the best. Unconditional love and acceptance and always there for you when you need them!

I saw in your profile (when I went to look up your real name) that you are a PhD student. What are you studying and where do you go to school, if you don't mind me asking. I love finding out what other people's interests are.

Ah thanks- we love our animal shelter babies. We would never buy a cat or dog when so many need homes. Plus, our animals are absolutely beautiful and one of a kind.

I'm working on a PhD in Performance as Public Practice at University of Texas at Austin. Though our degree title is confusing, basically I'm a theatre historian. I specialize in the women and performance during the American Revolutionary War. It's kind of an obscure specialization- I might be the only person anywhere doing so (at least as far as I know). UT is a giant school- last semester I taught a class with 360 students and this semester I feel blessed because I only have 200.

Yeah- the only problem is she gets so stressed out she gets sick too. So when my husband's not home I have to try and stop throwing up long enough to deal with her too!

So, what does one do with this degree, once one has it?

Ah well- any number of things. We have people who go on to work in the professional theatre, who work at museums, who work creating public policy, etc. I'm more traditional, I really hope to teach at a small liberal arts school. I love teaching undergraduates when I get the chance to really interact with them. I directed a bunch of first years in a show last semester and it was one of the most rewarding things I've done in a long time.

your pets are SO adorable. Animals just make me gush. Here's my lot for those who are interested....
This is our first pet Charlotte (the roon)

This is Tom tom the turtle

This is our second cat Toby (Lee lee)

This is one of my siamese fighting fish Abel

And this is my other fighting fish Cain

And we also have 12 cichlids! Takes me forever to feed them all before bed. But they're totally worth it.
