Hey everybody, I just wanted to confirn the definites for this Saturday's dinner (7:30pm) at Connolly's :
14 East 47th Street (Between 5th and Madison)

It looks like we have six people including myself. They are: Sheri and her BF, Nelly and her friend Sue, Daliatree, and myself. let me know if this is correct everyone. I am going to make the reservations on Thursday.

Tommy, Nelly and Everyone in NY
When I first saw your posts about this I was thinking about how fun it would be to go to a dinner like this but I know I can't make it since I live 4 hours or so to the south in DC, but now that I see your new restraunt I'm even more jealous! I've been to Connolly's! Never had dinner there actually, but it's one of my favorite bars in the city b/c of their house band - Black 47 - which I absolutely love! Any of the rest of the NY crew know Black 47 at all? My husband introduced me to the band when we were still in college - husband's half Irish and like lots of Irish music (including Seanachi for others in NYC) But anyways - I'm sure you will all have a great time - not sure who all is around here, but maybe Nelly and I could arrange a DC equivelent sometime??  Just a thought! Have a nice time next weekend guys!

Hey, I plan on going to the Spring or Summer get together. I even told my friends that I would be going. When I told them it was to meet some on-line friends, they were concerned. I am not. It trust you all.
We should ask if anyone would be interested in going to a future meeting. But I think if I was going to NYC, I'd want to be there for AT LEAST a weekend and see all the sights.

Glad to hear that you would not be concerned to meet us. NY is so great in the Spring and even better in the summer (everyone goes out to the Hamptons but that's ok).
There's just so much to do here. One weekend is so not enough time to do stuff but you can cram a lot in. I love showing people around too. I'm sure Nelly would be up for another trip if all goes well Saturday as I am sure it will.

Hey Mindy, I'v actually seen Black 47 as well as the Wolfetones a number of times in Connolly's. I don't think the Connolly's we're going to is the one they perform in though. It is a great concert though, isn't it?
I would be down to do a DC equivalent of an IBS meeting. That sounds like a good idea. lets see how NYC works out...

How about this... As we head towards warmer weather (I say this when its 60 degrees out on Jan. 3rd) you pick a date when you'd like to head down to NYC. I'm always here so it doesn't matter to me. You can cooordinate with anybody else who'd like to come to head to NY City and I will be more than happy to give you a tour of NY from a hometowner point of view as I promised Nelly...

I would so love to do a DC equivalent, Min!! How fun would that be??? For those of you who haven't seen the nation's capital, we have beautiful museums, many traditional ethnic restaurants, tons of marble monuments (literally, tons! ), and multicultural outdoor events, which are, guess what! FREE! That's right, your tax dollars hard at work!! OK, just my $ .02!!

Good thinking, Brittany!!!!!! The Nelly Tour of DC is highly recommended! Nothing like seeing the monuments by moonlight, with the bats swirling and diving over the washington monument, casting incredible shadows!! You'd also be surprised how many tourists choose to see the monuments by night. They're really great in the dark!
Also on the tour: the Exorcist Stairs, Nelly's dad's name in the Air and Space Museum, Best Key Lime Pie in the City, and Where Mayor Barry Smoked Crack!

I'm very happy to be going to NY, and I'm packing for the Big Apple now, looking up the weather online, doing laundry, etc. So I'll be off the boards until probably Monday, as I won't have access to a computer while I'm up there! But think of me as I will be living it up in NY!!

I am so happy that people like this idea!!! I saw that Nelly is on her way up to NYC already, but I think I may have to remember to start a thread on this next week - it would be so nice to actually meet some of you guys! (Even though I must admit, if you read my posts, you people know way too much about my pooh!) Oh well! But I'm sure everyone will have fun and that should be a good trial run for arranging something similar in DC!
I know lots of restraunts too - in all sorts of price ranges and culinary varieties!!

I think we may be onto something! And Nelly we'll definitely have to get you a speaker device of some sort. I'm thinking either a megaphone that can blast out those catchy tunes, or a microphone headset with a fanny pack speaker This could get fun!

I wish I was able to make it tonight. I have felt awful all day. I barely have a voice (my throat is so sore), my body is achy, my stomach is not good and have slept on and off for most of the day. I basically just feel like cr*p. I want to apologize to Nelly and everyone else who went tonight for me not being able to attend. I hope y'all had a good time. Tina, if another one of these are held, I promise to be better and give you and anyone else who comes along a tour.
