Do you have photos of your Christmas tree?

This is my first year of having my very own Christmas tree, so it's pretty exciting. I bought a 6 1/2 foot pre-lit tree and I love it. Having the tree up really puts me in the holiday spirit. Here are a couple of photos. Sorry the first one's a little fuzzy!

So, what does YOUR tree look like??

I take a picture of my tree every single year, haha. It looks virtually the same almost every year, but my parents like to see it anyway.

We're doing the rest of the decorations today, so I'm sure I'll be back with more pics. This is the first year I've put up stuff *other* than a tree, and I'm super-excited about that!

I can't put mine up until the builders are finished as we won't have any space, they aren't starting til Monday and it could take up to two weeks. We are short on space in the house so I always get a small real tree, my sitting room is painted a deep red so the Christmas Tree looks great in it. I will post pics the moment they are done.

The whole outside lights thing only hit over here in the last couple of years but we are not doing any on our house, very few people do really, except in the competitive streets! PLEASE post pics of your outsides, I love the way you Americans really celebrate every holiday!

I love your tree, Casey. It's gorgeous. A little surprised you didn't trek out in them back woods up thar with an axe and cut it down yourself -- but hey, it's still damn bee-yew-tee-full!

We're getting a digital camera for Christmas, so maybe I'll be able to post a pic then.

Merry Christmas Sweetie.

Thanks guys!

Kree, the "present" situation is unusual even for me - this year, I had to make ALL of my presents, because I don't have money to buy anything... I started in September, and I've been knitting/crocheting/sewing like MAD. Normally by now I only have 2 or 3 things under there. This year, I only have 2 or 3 left.

Bevrs, we're lazy! We don't want to take care of a real tree... we don't want to vacuum up pine needles... we don't want to drag a dirty tree in all over our ivory carpeting!! I've always used a fake tree, and probably always will, LOL!

Your tree looks gorgeous! Sad to say mine looks weird. It's all blue and silver and has a great set of coloured lights that you can change the pattern. Unfortunately little hands find it irresistable and ALL the decorations are currently on the top 4 branches of the tree leaving the bottom 2 completely bare

I'm surprised at all the gifts under the tree already. You must have started shopping so early. And they look like they're wrapped up so perefectly too!

See my reply to Kree above... I couldn't "shop" at all this year - no money - so I made everything myself, and I started in September. That's the ONLY reason there's so much under the tree. If I were shopping, there'd be nothing - I'm one of those last-minute people, usually.

And yeah, I admit it, I'm a perfectionist giftwrapper. Haha.

Well, I'm an airhead - I was so busy trying to get a picture of mine up that I forgot to say that I love your tree! It has a much nicer shape than ours does, and I think a pre-lit tree is probably the best idea EVER. Very nice!

Oh, I love all of these trees. I get excited about anything Christmasy. I love the lights and decorations.

We put our tree up the day after Thanksgiving. I wanted one of those pre-lit trees, but my 13 year old said he couldn't believe I was going to break our tradition of he and I stringing the lights, so of course I decided against a pre-lit this year.

Last year we didn't have a tree since I spent my three weeks off from school in London on a class trip, and my brother went back to school the day after Christmas to work on building a solar powered car. So this year my parents have decided that since we survived without one last year, we can do it again this year.

Christmas has never been a favorite holiday of mine though. My first memory of the holiday is waking up on Christmas morning when I was 6 and finding my grandma incoherent after suffering a stroke in the middle of the night. Needless to say, I spent that Christmas in the hospital. Subsequent holidays were spent either in hospitals, nursing homes, or rehab centers with either my grandma or my grandfather. Now I tend to dread the holidays, wondering what could possibly go wrong this year. I know I'm a Scrooge, but Bah-Humbug anyways.

Now that I've depressed myself, and probably you guys too, I want to wish everybody a happy holiday season. I've always found it somewhat ironic that so many religions and cultures have big holidays at this time of year. I suppose I could say it all traces back to the Roman holiday, Saturnalia, but then I'd be proving what a nerd I am and that I actually remember something from the five years of Latin I took in high school .

Anyways, happy holidays and enjoy what ever time you get off (I plan on spending my three weeks alternating between sleeping and playing with my baby goats)!

Meg

Making gifts is WAY better than store bought ones. That's great that you've done that. One year one of my friends gave me a box of homemade ginger snaps, choclolate chip and some other kind of cookie. That was way better than a cd, perfume, or whatever store bought thing she would have gotten me!

Baby goats! I bet they're adorable. My friend Ang wants goats in the worst way... she'd be squealing and begging for pictures right about now, hehe.

I actually knew that about Saturnalia and the origin of the holidays this time of year. I'm no Latin geek, just a geek in general.

Anyway, I'm sorry the holidays haven't been a happy time for you... but I hope you enjoy your time off, and get to really relax.

Wow, I don't get online for one day and there are pages of this thread to read! Lol.

Lollie, your tree is beautiful! I agree with Casey, I love the blues.

Meg, I'm sorry your Christmases haven't been ideal. Your grandmother's stroke would certainly put a damper on things. I hope you're able to enjoy your holiday season (and your goats) this year.

Sinead, I don't have too many outdoor lights at my apartment, but I'll try to get some photos for you! I agree, it's a neat tradition.

To everyone else, thanks for sharing your stories! It's so fun hearing how everyone celebrates the holidays. What a fun time of year!

Since I don't have any Christmas tree photos, I'll make an attempt to post a picture of one of the twins born at the end of October. In this photo, he's about 2 weeks old. Arno (named after my Mom's uncle) has a twin sister Henrietta (named after my Mom's mother) who's somewhat camera shy so I don't have a decent photo of her. For some strange reason my Grandma and Great Uncle are thrilled to have goats named after them !

Meg, that probably didn't work because the filename (between the [image] and [/image]) didn't end in jpg. Where do you have the photo posted? Because some sites, like Snapfish, won't work here for that very reason. Try Photobucket. It's free and it links here!

Hey, I hear ya on that sick for xmas post!! I've spent more bdays and xmases in the hospital than out. Between fainting spells, seizures, and yes, one coma that lasted for 3 days, xmas has always been a bust for me. Stress seizures and dehydration due to D has knocked my plans off in the past, so as a result, I've steered clear of family drama, overextending my credit card (I now have no credit), and anything that might involving me eating socially where I can't control my quality of food intake.

Sounds boring? Noooo! Imagine a relax morning spent cuddling in bed with the most beautiful guy who happens to have a gorgeous accent and who professes to be in love with you now and will love you until the end of time. It's my 9th xmas with this guy and I'm still dizzingly in love. No presents necessary anymore when we'll buy each other something out of the blue and hide it for the other to find buried in the glove compartment of sock drawer, in, like August.

This is the one time of year when I really believe that I'm ahead of the pack. But don't get me wrong, bdays and tax season are still a bear. But at least in the winter I can bundle up with my boything and feel like the stressors of the world can't get to me.

OK for the rest of you, 20 more shoplifting days until xmas!!

~nelly~

Here's mine, it's on my dresser so my roommate's cat doesn't get to it, it's just a little tree (that sheds green glitter stuff like crazy) that I got at the Dollar Store las year. The "lights" are a broken necklace that had christmas light looking bulbs on it, and random ornaments my mom let me steal when I moved out. The tree topper is a lace angel pin someone gave me a long time ago.

I think my post should work if you copy and paste the address it shows - or is it called the URL - whatever it is. When I open my post and then copy and paste it I can see my picture - (you dont copy the word [image] at the beginning or end. Sorry I cant seem to figure the whole picture posting out - I opened an account at photobucket but it hasnt sent me my email confirmation yet which lets you start your album =( Anyways does copy and paste work for anyone else or just me??
