More importantly than why must I have nine bosses, why must they all feel that they can tell me what they want and then once I do it, exactly as they asked, change thier minds entirely and make me do everything all over again and then wonder why it wasn't ready the exact second they asked for it in the first place?!? I am getting so frustrated with work this week and lemme tell ya' it's manifested right in the tummy! I came back from China on Monday night and went straight to work after I voted on Tuesday morning. Since I got back we've been working full steam on this event for next Tuesday and I must have been over this thing 80 times by now with the ways these decisions are being made and remade in a different fashion every other minute!!!! I will like my work better next week once I'm writing testimonies and feel like I can put my head into my research and forget about dealing with other people - Nelly - you're in events management in this city - my Lord it would drive me insane to do this all the time! I just want to get the event over with, have my Commissioners happy with me and get some time to rest and try to be nice to my tummy - I've been eating the right stuff all week and still having D because I'm SO stressed with all this! I'm sure I'll be here working this weekend too! And then next week I have my colonoscopy and so I'm worried about that too - I really need to try to stop worrying!

sorry for the rant - had to vent a bit after the 94th re-do of everything I had been working on!!

Hey Min, That was so funny, I was reading through your post, nodding my head (yes, i can relate, i can relate...) and then I saw my name, and Event Management, and BURST out laughing!!

This is the nature of the beast, isn't it??? I always say, you have to have the stomach for this (har, har), cos everything changes at the last minute, and YES you are at the mercy of a dozen people and their insane expectations!! Doesn't it seem that everybody talks "crazy," and expects you to translate into "sane?"

But I think like a lot of IBS-ers, we are perfectionists, Min, and thereby drawn stress-filled positions which consist of a million tiny, tiny details. My job is all details, and when I think of the over 120+ conferences I've directed in the last 5 years, I think I must be truely insane.

But just remind yourself about how great it'll be when it's all over and you can actually not have to think about it anymore. At least for 3 days afterwards, until the next major project rears its ugly head.

But really, it's going to be OK. And it's cool to dodge phone calls and to tell someone else to back off for the time being. They know you're under pressure.

It's so hard when there's a major time crunch, and everything drops from the sky at the last minute! And I hear you about people in this town, all more important than the last one. Just remember to breathe. Time your breaks. Remember to eat small. And breathing, keep breathing!!!

It'll be alllll overrrr sooooon.
