Remember my rant about BF and our anniversary (this is is it) Well, don't I feel foolish and bad now?
We were in the pub before our yummy dinner and he handed me a brown envelope which contained my card. I was very suprised to get a card as he said he wasn't getting me one! Inside the card was booking confirmation details for a weekend in Paris on 14-16 January.!!!!!!!
I couldn't believe it! I was talking the night before about how it was ages since we had been there (i lived there for 9 months when I was 18 and BF and I have visited twice since, including ringing in the Milennium at the Eiffel Tower)
I am SOOO EXCITED! and so surprised!!!
I am a very lucky (and surprised) girl. I am also relieved that I got over being mad with him enough to get him a present (I got him a CD and three DVDs including Fight Club and Lost in Translation, both of which he LOVES)
SOO excited...suddenly I have lots of things to look forward to..I am going to Lanzarote on Sunday week for a week with Mum and now have Paris in the (almost) Spring with BF to look forward to too!!
YIPPEEE !!!!

congratulations.. you are a very lucky girl and as one person who lived in Dublin growing up, I am ungodly jealous that you have that so close to home.. I miss travelling in Europe, but we just can't seem to make ti happen and do the obligatory family stuff here in the states too!

Yippeeee! That's awesome. Paris is so romantic. Bf and I went there for a weekend in July, and it was wonderful. We stayed in an amazing hotel, and had a great time. I had been to Paris once before when I was about 16, with friends, and he's been there many times, as he studied in Lyon for a semester in college. So, we'd both already seen all the touristy sites, and were able to just go hang around the city. It was fantastic. Whenever I get stressed out I close my eyes and pretend we are there again! You are going to have a great time, I'm sure. It's also kind of cool that you know about it so far in advance, because it's kind of like a light at the end of the tunnel! In those situations I always love the anticipation as much as the trip itself. Good for you!

Its funny Amie, I have only been to London, Edinburgh and Paris (and sunholidays to Spain and Portugal) there is a lot of Europe I haven't seen, but we are lucky that there are a lot of beautiful cities within 3hours flying time for weekend breaks.
Panda- hanging around is what we did for the milennium trip too, we took walks around the city, wandered off the beaten track, sat in brasseries and watched the world go by, chatted in Tuileries gardens, drank bottles of Beaujolais and generally lazed around enjoying one another's company.
This time I want to go on a bateau mouche (boat on the River Seine) I just love snuggling up to BF on them! We have done it before and I really like it.
Also want to spend some time in the Louvre or Musee d'orsay and am thinking of getting him tickets for the Lido/Moulin Rouge or Folies Bergeres - do you know anyone who has been?
So many ideas in my head!!!

Thanks Heather..I know!
The Mom thing I am paying for myself with my money and a voucher I shared with Mom, I was talking to her tonight and she is really excited about it. BF is going to visit his Dad in Lanzarote in December for a week (he got such a cheap deal because its december- $260 US for a week self catering accommodation and flights and transfers!
I have to get a new passport, mine expires in January, I will sort it when I get back from my trip the week after next! Funny, the reason I got that passport was to go to Paris when I was 18, I just checked it and it expires 3 days before I go back!
Trips to Paris from here are not really that expensive and these days Paris is not much more expensive to eat in than Dublin (Dublin has gotten so expensive- you saw the house prices thread before)
Still though, my credit card is my friend right now, am going to have to cut him in 2 after Christmas I think! We need to get our bathroom renovated and have just looked up personal loans for that....what am I like??
Still excited!
