I have a meeting with the Office of Disability Services this afternoon to discuss the medical review board's decision regarding my disability status. If it is determined that my condition does not apply under the Americans with Disabilities Act, I will have to move out of the special dorms for Honors College students because they won't accommodate me in the faculty appartments in the building unless it is an ADA issue.
I'm really trying to keep it together and do what is necessary for my health, but I don't want to leave this building because all of my friends live here and we have special privleges because we are in the Honors Program at Penn State. I know I can fight their decision if it is not in my favor, but that will take so long to get resolved and if I get my parents lawyer involved I'll most likely graduate before anything is resolved.
Life just really stinks. Dealing with IBS is bad enough, and now I have to give up so much more than just food because of a medical condition. I'm so frustrated and depressed right now. The only good thing is that my parents are going to come up here on Sunday to bring me some food and hugs.

Good Luck Meg, let us all know how it goes. Its so unfair that you have to move unless it works out with the disability status.
Fingers crossed for you,
Sinead

The final desicion of the medical review board is that IBS does not classify as a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act. I can try and fight the decision, but I'm not sure it's really worth it. The stress from this situation is killing me and my health and school work are suffering. I don't think I can deal with this much longer and I might just give up. I know that's not the best attitude, but I'm falling apart and don't want to deal with this anymore. I don't want to deal with anything anymore.

Oh Meg, I am so sorry. Think long and hard before you make any big decisions now, you are probably so upset and emotional about it all it will take its toll. Am thinking of you and we are all here for venting sesssions whenever you need us across many different timezones!
Hugs, Sinead
