I suffer chronic gastric and conspitation. I may have IBS since i notice that certian food triggers colon irrartion. I still feel straining during bathroom . I feel tired often/
I have a question:
Since peppermint may help relieves the gas, bloating, pain Im told that peppermint masks a heart attack. Is it true ?

You need to get properly checked out before deciding it's IBS - blood tests, colonoscopy, etc. There are alot of things with similiar symptoms to IBS, so this is very important.
Unless you're expecting to have a heart attack in the near future, I wouldn't even think about that with peppermint! You could just as well say that symptoms from IBS can mask a heart attack - you could have a mild heart attack and think it was an IBS attack, I guess!?! But that's the same with LOTS of illnesses!
Peppermint can be a godsend for lots of people, so try it! But get checked out too.

I'm from Texas, too. The Houston area.
It might be a good idea for you to get some tests done to see if it is IBS you have or maybe it's something else. That way you can be treated properly.
I'm not sure I understand your question about peppermint caps? I have heard that they can cause heartburn in some people. Is that what you mean? If you are concerned that you are having symptoms of a heart attack, though, you need to check with your doc. immediately.

Howdy
i have healthly heart. I have reg seeing the GI doctor who said that i have chronic gastric and conspiation. He gave me powder for conspation. I have acid reflux disease and hitatus hernia, ucler. As Im writing to you, I have little conispation pain. When I wanted to try peppermint my friends warned me that peppermint could cause heart problems. Almost all articles i read is that peppermint can cause heart burns like you said. The GI specialist told me that I may have IBS after I complained that I have been straining durung getting rid of stools and conspitation.
I had lower abdoinal pain three months ago and since I was taking Nexium and taking mulitvitamins liquid and I started drinking lacson ( sp ?) acid free milk i noticed it is getting better. But still problem is conspiation. I was doing research about IBS and found that it is complex. Pretty interesting. I hope u will understand what im trying to say.
