I agree with Casey, my favorite books are the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. I love them all. I also enjoy reading anything by Faye or Jonathan Kellerman. After I finish a class with required reading, I usually like to pick up a light romance just to have something fun to read, Linda Lael Miller, Connie Mason and Julie Garwood.

I have to disagree about being put off by Faye Kellerman books if you aren't Jewish as I am not, and they are still my favourite novels... I think the Jewish references made are very well explained and, if you read all the series, you become used to the ones she uses quite regularly.
I would still recommend her books over and over - I've given them to lots of friends (none of whom are practicing Jews) and they've all enjoyed them.
Also, I think it's a good way to read about different ways of life through novels as it is a lot easier going than text books or other non-fiction.

I wasn't saying don't read them if you aren't Jewish- just warning people that the references are there as a few people I loaned the books to without some sort of warning were offput because there was so much of a different lifestyle mentioned that they weren't expecting... they are wonderful books nd I have actually had a few people read them to learn a bit about jewish life from a more fun book then most books on the topic.

One review I read compared M of a G to Jane Austen... after reading Pride & Prejudice I really do see the comparison. All about societies in which intense emotion is felt and hidden.

Whoa this is scary. I am a novelist writing a classic English Regency romance and I hope someone out there likes them because none of you read that stuff! So my favorite author and hero is Jane Austen and my favorite novel is Pride and Prejudice. I also like Tom Jones and Vanity Fair.

LOL! I'll read them! Actually, I think Christine mentioned classics, and I meant to come back and list a few more, but got sidetracked. Back when I used to read *a lot*, I mostly read classics and historical novels. I love Austen. I also love F. Scott Fitzgerald (The Great Gatsby, Tender is the Night) and To Kill a Mockingbird.

Growing up, my favorites were Little Women, the Anne of Green Gables books by L.M. Montgomery, and the Little House on the Prairie books. I still have most of those on my bookshelf.

That is a very cool job you got there. I read Regency Romance. I love Heather Graham and Catherine Coulter. I am pretty sure most of their novels are considered Recency Romance. Good luck with you book.

I have never read a Regency Romance that was not written in Regency times. I guess I'm not sure what I am up against. I have hope though!

I read romance novels, but more for fun, and quick reads for the most part.. my MIL loves them and so does my best friend and they both pass them on.

Good luck with the book.. a friend wrote one and had a hell of a time getting it published.

I love love love to read and it's so hard to pick a favorite, but my all time favorites are F. Scott Fitzgerald's Great Gatsby, Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird, A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving, and Little Women. I also love Dan Brown's books and then all those new cute chick books with the great covers - I see them and it makes me want to read them.
