My favourite book is Ocean Sea by Alesandro Barricco. He's also written a great book called silk. Terry Pratchett always gives me a laugh as well!

Oh! This is an awesome thread! I just LIVE for reading ... My favorite authors are Dean Koontz, Clive Cussler and Sharon Shinn, but I'll read just about any one or any thing (except those romance ones - they make me blush! ). My favorite books are "Watchers" and "Lightning", by Koontz. I've read them at least a dozen times apiece ...

I have read Lighting by Dean Koontz at least three times. It was the first book of his I ever read. I loved it. I also loved Phantoms. I also LOVE to read. I am trying to get back into it. I had been having a hard time since i got sick concentrating on it, but I just started Nora Roberts new one and it is going good.

Oh Yes.. and btw.. if your not Jewish or ready to deal with reading about another way of life (the hero other then the first book leads a very ultra orthodox jewish lifestyle and it comes into his story) you may want to skip most of Faye kellerman, but I love Jonathon Kellermans books as well- his are more thrillers.. hers are mysteries. and they are married

My favorite modern author is probably John Irving (Cider House Rules, Prayer for Owen Meany, World According to Garp, Widow for One Year, etc.). He rocks! In a completely different genre, I do also like Stephen King. Margaret Atwood is good, too.

In terms of "classic" authors, I like John Steinbeck a lot. Steph, The Grapes of Wrath is awesome! That ending! So great!

Hi everyone, I am new to the boards. Please pick up a book by a Canadian author called Fall On Your Knees, Kathy Mcdonald. It's too fantastic. Both of my teenage daughters couldn't put it down. Nor could I. Amazing for a first novel by a writer. It has everything in it you could imagine an oh so sweetly written.
