the colonoscopy isn't as bad as they make it sound.. and it will get better, once you figure out how to eat and what to do and what your personal triggers are... yes you'll still have bad days, but they won't be anywhere near as often...
good luck

Hi,
Things will get easier for you....just wait and see.
The beginning is probably the hardest. You just need to find what foods are triggers. And remember, like I tell everybody, watch for sorbitol/mannitol in things like vitamins, gum & mints.
Keeping a food diary really helped me pinpoint my triggers.
Just keep reading posts on this site and you will find a lot of helpful advice.

Cherry, you're gonna have to trust me on this: the colonoscopy procedure is a snap. I was blown away. Truly, it was a piece of cake. They give you the best drugs you've ever had, and you're sent off to dreamland immediately, then when you wake up, it's all over and you literally float outta there. It was fabulous!
Okay, so the prep wasn't so nice -- you know, the day before. But if you're a D person, like I am, you're used to sitting on the pot a lot. That's what you have to do -- just drink a lot of icky laxative and sit on the pot. If you can get past that, you've got it made.
Now, about your first question. Yes, it does get easier. Once you have it figured out (and it does take awhile), and follow the program without cheating (I wouldn't give up my beloved cuppa), you'll start feeling better, then in time you'll be stable and very seldom have an attack.
Of course, you realize you gotta cut out that ice cream first!
Feel better soon -- Bev

Thanks Bev I now have somewhere to go and people understand just where I'm comming from. At first..well NOW I feel like I just got thrown into it blind folded. I know in time things will get better. Yeah I just want to get through this prep, only one day I can do this...if the drugs are as good as you say..I'll be fine. Thanks again

It gets so much easier with time. You stabilise, figure out your personal limits, work out which meds work best for you...
And once you're through the colonoscopy prep, the worst bit's over! The procedure's a breeze.
Hang in there!
Btw, have you got "IBS: The First Year"? V. helpful.
