Could impacted gas make my chest hurt? Please read......

For over a week I have had chest pain on the left side, it really hurts when I am sitting in my pc chair or at the sewing machine, and sometimes when I am driving.
I live 3 miles north of a Chemical Refinery, last week they had some type of release (of course, they do not warn the public, period). I thought that I may be having side effects from that since some of the grass in front of my house is dead, and I have also lost some shrubbery (turned black and crinkled up). Yesterday I called them and acted like a total b***h, and when they call me today, I will probably continue to behave like one. But, if this pain is coming from impacted gas,   how embarrassing. Though I will never tell  . I tried some of the yoga poses last night, I started back on the SFS, taking acidophillus, I don't know what else to do. I also have an appointment with my Allergy and Asthma specialist so he can take a look at my lungs and maybe run some blood tests.
What do you think?

Thats kinda scarey about the chemical release!  
I get chest pains when I get a bad attack. Its usually like a pressure thing. Its like an elephant is sitting right on my chest and I can't take a deep breath. Its usually pretty constant for days. What does your pain feel like?

There's so many residual effects from ibs that it's hard to say for sure if this is from gas or not.
I'd certainly be concerned since the chemical release has killed things in your hard. How scary!! Do you know what was released? (just curious).
Let us know what your specialist has to say. I'll be waiting to hear what you find out.

Hey Gayla,
Sorry you are feeling bad. I do get pains like that sometimes from trapped gas. Have you tried OTC Phazyme? It does help me. Could it be acid indigestion or heartburn? Maybe try Pepcid or something like that.
I'm glad you are going to an Allergy & Asthma specialist just to make sure the chemical release isn't causing it.
BTW, did you ever get the undies at Walmart?

I had a long day with the Environmental Team from Connoco-Phillips-Chevron. They are denying there was any release, period. But, I have talked to more people today who are sick, and who have burnt spots in their yards and property. IT is coming from that refinery, and they don't want to admit it. They are suppossed to come in the morning and take soil, and grass samples, just a formality with them. They think I will shut up and be appeased that they acted like they actually care and want to do something. But, they don't know me, and I am not going to shut up. I told them that grass (and listen, it was so thick and lush and green  ) and shrubbery can be replaced, but my health and my grandchildrens health cannot! They know I am fighting mad and I am not gonna take it any more !!!!!!!
To answer you question Michele, I have an area about the size of a grapefruit directly over my heart and it just hurts, it feels like something is squeezing my chest. IT hurts when I do things like fold clothes, cook, I tried to sew a little bit today and it hurt so bad I had to quit. I am very upset about this, we also have sever large areas of dead grass in one of our pastures. WE HAVE CATTLE THAT GRAZE OUT THERE, now, what are we suppossed to do with them? Actually, I am beginning to get frightened by it all, very frightened.
I hope tomorrow (wed) is a much better day. Hope you are taking good care of yourself Michele, I know you are honey. And I know you want to have a baby, just don't give up, I am still praying for you.

I don't know anything about what type of gas or chemical yet. My husband works in the industry, just not at that facility, so we know what we are up against and what nonsense they are dishing out to us.
I just want to feel better and get on with my life, read my post to Michele it has an update in it.

I have not found those unders at WM, my dil found some along the same line at Target. So, I need to go there .
Tomorrow I am getting some Phazyme. This pain does not feel like indegestion or heartburn, I dont know what it is, but it does hurt. It would be just like my luck for him to tell me I have been trying to have a heart attack, God Forbid on that one! I just dont have any of the symptoms.

YIKES!! That is so scarey! Is there someone outside of the plant you can call to do an analysis? I'm not sure I would trust the plant itself to give you straight answers! Maybe someone at the City Hall could put you in touch with the right people.
The pain you describes sounds different that what I get. Have you ever had any gallbladder problems? When I used to get gallbladder attacks, I thought I was having a heart attack! I had mine removed a few years so don't get that anymore!

I had my gallbladder removed several years ago, thank goodness for that.
I saw my Allergy & Asthma doc today, he was extremely thorough, I had two different breathing tests, past both of them with flying colors. It seems that right now there is no lung damage. I do however have, (and I cannot remember the name of this stuff, it is very long) an inflamation in the cartilege thats works itself in and around the ribs. He gave me a strong anti-inflamatory, along with 3 days of Predisone treatment. HE said after that I should be fine.
When I asked what could cause this, he said STRESS !! 
I have contacted the EPA, they are working with me, today they called and left a message, they found the person who deals with this refinery on a regular basis.
I have lost an area of grass that is about 16x18'. It lays directly in front of the landscaping job across the front of my house, that I had done back in the spring. I also had two beautiful flowering shrubs that turned black and crispy. Now, I have been a gardener for many years, I have lost many plants, they turn brown and die. NEver ever have I had one turn black and crispy. IT is a chemical, my h agrees with me, though, he does not have the time to let himself get as upset as I am about it. The thing is, I work out in that bed daily, my hands are in that dirt. IF it were you, would you want to put your hands in dirt that could be contaminated? What about sitting in that patch of dead grass while I am pulling weeds, etc.? Would you demand that the grass be re-sodded? The dirt/mulch be totally removed? The plants, 3 of them cost me $100. each, this is the first time in our married lives that I have spent that kind of money on something like that, but my kids are grown and gone, and this is something that I dearly love to do, so I bought them. Would you demand that every plant be taken up and replaced????
Tell me, what would you do??
My first thought was to demand they come out and remove it all, and have it totally replaced. And, I might just do it!!! IT is going to hurt me to see those pretty plants pulled up and burned, but what if they turn black tomorrow??
In all, I have approximately, 53 plants in that bed.
I need your input here friends!!
