her latest last night on hearing about my current bout of problems is to once again (even though my doctor has ruled it out) insist I have crohns and not IBS, even thought eh IBS treatment, which is different then what she does for crohns is working! it was like she was insisting the right tests hadn't been run when they had been. I think she just wants me to have the same problems she does.
She takes hyoscamine too, at night, and we were talking and I told her about the peppermint caps and she is all excited! I think she's going to try to find some locally to try as well.. I took a second one this morning, about 15 hours after hte last one and boy- do I feel better then most mornings!

Well at least your mum doesn't pooh-pooh you! That's what my Mum did with my Fibro ("oh, I feel tired all the time. That's just life", etc.). I NOW think that she's actually got mild Fibro herself, but it did hack me off no end!
Why not just ask her for her reasons for thinking it's Chron's not IBS and see if she has a logical answer?

Amie, sorry to hear that your mom has a mental block on this! I'm sure at heart she's just concerned about you and wants you to be well, but sometimes people have a funny way of showing their concern. For example, my MIL thinks if I just go to the museum more my fibromyalgia will go away. Huhhhhhh?????
My only suggestion is to start telling her firmly but nicely each time it comes up, "Mom, I don't have Crohn's I have IBS."

Oh, you mean, the museum. Didn't we have this conversation before? Or am I dreaming??
First I thought you meant moms. I had this image of running our mothers through bark chippers then inhaling them through a straw. I knew I was weird but not that weird!!
Nel, you are too funny!
