How do you calculate your weight loss? Some folks use a tape measure and wrap it around their bodies. Other folks step up on a scale and get a number.
Not me! I jump in my kayak and check my buoyancy. Well, sure! Here, for example, is a picture taken several months ago, Before Weight Watchers. Note where the water comes up on the side, hiding the name of the boat:
And now here I am today. The name is above water! I've LOST WEIGHT! WAH-HOOOO!
See, all ya gotta do is climb in your kayak and check your buoyancy!

Bevvy, way to go!
I honestly don't own a scale! I think having a scale in my home would drive me insane. I'd be on it at least 12 times/day.
I usually go by the snugness/looseness of my jeans. My doctor weighs me periodically & informs me of how to be concerned. I need to gain a few pounds at the moment, but I'm still above the anorexic point.
I must say, though, your method is original. However, you are one of a kind.
WW seems to agree with you. What's your assessment--is it working for you?
Kate.

I LOVE Weight Watchers. I do not feel like I'm on a diet. It's just a way of eating, and really all about portion control and food choices. I love what I'm eating -- it's very healthy -- and it agrees with me. Today I had whole wheat toast for breakfast, a sirloin steak for lunch, a huge tossed green salad for dinner, and a fresh apple for an evening snack. What's not to love?!
I do own a doctor's scale, but I do not go crazy over it. Like you, my clothes tell me what I need to know. And, lately, I've been donating most of them. Soon I'll be digging into the attic where all my "skinny" clothes are stored away.
It was hubby who noticed the water line on my boat, and it was he who took the pictures. But it was ME who got a thrill out of it.
Yes, I have lost weight, but very slowly. I've given myself until my next big doc appt. in September to lose it all and to BRING DOWN MY CHOLESTEROL, and I'm determined to do it. When I get on those scales in September, I'm gonna blow 'em away!
Thanks for posting.

Hi BAB,
That is the coolest scale I've ever seen. You are doing a great job on your diet and I'm sure you will reach your goal in September.
WOOHOO!

That is a very cleaver way to see how much weight you have lost without having to step on the dreaded scale.
I am very proud of you Bevvy. You go girl!

Thanks. You know how to make a gal feel good! I can't WAIT 'till September. When the doc looks at those scales and back at me, I'm gonna throw it right back at him, what he's been telling me for FIVE YEARS now!:
Quote:
Calories in, Calories out.
Man, am I sick of hearing that!
Thanks again. You guys are GREAT!
