This is actually my first post...I have been diagnosed w/ IBS for the past 10 years. My life fluctuates between times when I can "tolerate" the IBS and bouts when it completely takes over my life, i.e., must resort to completely bland diet (rice, toast, potatoes, water, peppermint tea), constant pain & diarrhea after eating, etc.). I'm actually experiencing a bout of it right now and am having a hard time getting out of it.

Onto the subject of my post...we had planned on starting to try for a baby this summer; however, I'm feeling a bit hesitant about it. I haven't been taking any vitamins or folic acid due to the stomach issues. I'm also concerned that my diet (which is completely lacking in appropriate nutrients at the moment) may impact the initial growth and development of the baby. Do I have reason to be worried? As much as I want this, do I need to wait?

Any input/personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have to say I felt my best when pregnant and I never took vitamins cause they made me ill.I suppose you might just have to take a multi. but I read that you should break them in half and have one half in the morning and the other at suppertime. That way your body gets a steady flow so to speak.
Our bodies can't digest all of the nutrients at once and so half goes down the drain.
Good luck
