Hi--newbie here. I am newly diagnosed with IBS-D, and I am a vegetarian. I am particularly interested in what vegetarians with IBS-D eat, and I am excited to share how my day went with you guys. This is like a support group!
I have had a good day so far. I am taking quite a few pills though--I take chamomile, peppermint, fennel, an antispasmodic and soluble fiber with every meal! I had to come up with a system. That doesn't include my thyroid medication, acid reflux meds, acidopholus, multivitamin, etc. etc. that I take once a day. However, I felt very good today--when I do not clear a room with my gas, it has to be a good day!!!
Breakfast: cheerios w/ soy milk
Exercise: 20 mins. on elliptical and weights
Lunch: rice/beans (Smart Ones) with a tortilla a banana
Snack: carrots with a little jalepeno ranch (very little) sweet potato chips--a handful pistachios--a handful
Dinner: noodle stir fry with tons of veggies and tofu (my husband makes it for me).
I had a Mike's hard lemonade earlier--bad, bad, but I treat myself with an alcoholic drink every now and then. Hopefully I won't be paying for it tomorrow!
That's it and THANKS for letting me share. That felt good, and sometimes my husband gets tired of hearing my food stories!

Cals about 1850 and exercise 13+miles biking. Good day.
-------------------- IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

I hope you'll find some support on the boards...I know my friends get tired of hearing about all the IBS related stuff too, and it is such a relief to have somewhere to come and check in at the end of the day. Take care!

Just had a late dinner, and I think I ate a little too much volume...feeling okay, though, just a little bloated.
*soy coffee, shredded oats with soymilk, banana and a few blackberries
*tuna with lite mayo on sourdough with avocado, spring greens, and a little tomato
*handful of sundried tomato and basil flavored Wheat Thins (mmmm...new favorite), baked sweet potato with vegan butter, spring greens with balsamic dressing and crumbled goat cheese, and a few blackberries for dessert.
I'm kind of worried about those blackberries, but I hope they won't cause any serious problems...I was ok after breakfast, but who knows...

Sounds like tummy doesn't like confusion, i.e. too much assortment of "nutritional input" at once.
Bravo for doing the babyfood. Homemade babyfood is really easy, too! It's more or less the principle of the "faux-taters" recipe. It's probably cheaper, too!
One day at a time! Kate.

Hi everybody!
Activities: None, except for a very small amount of walking (I work Sundays)
Breakfast: Oatmeal/oat bran with 1/3 cup of frozen blueberries and 1/2 cup of Silk Soy Milk - Plain.
Snack: Luna Bar and snack size unsweetened applesauce cup
Lunch: 3 potato and onion perogies, 1/2 cup of peas and corn.
Snack: 1/2 small potato, mashed with 1 tsp of ICBINB and calcium supplement.
Dinner: Beef Stew with onions, carrots, potatoes, tomato juice and spices and lean stewing beef. Note: Beef is NOT SAFE for some IBS'ers. I am trying to incorporate some back into my diet because of low iron. Not recommended for unstable tummies.
Snack: 1 square of Lindt 70% cocao chocolate.
Note: All day I didn't feel very well. My tummy was rumbly, I kept having to go to the loo and I started to get stomach pains right before dinner. After dinner, the pains got super intense and I couldn't even stand. I spent hours on my couch, on top of the heating pad, drinking peppermint tea. I even took some bucospan to try and help the pains, but it hurt so bad! Yikes!
There's today!
Cheers!
