Well, I got a bad report card from the doctor, i.e. my body mass is too low so I've got to eat MORE. Note: I deliberately make a point of NOT KNOWING the number on the scale, but I am told that it is less than 110lbs. I am five foot six inches in height & totally lazy! She's more concerned because due to autoimmune conditions I show "muscle wasting" in my blood work.
Anyways, I had a kind of warped food day.
1/2 c. chicken
green beans
spaghetti squash
spinach puree
fresh basil
mixed field greens
portabella mushroom "crumbles"
1/2 c. chicken breast (with cinnamon--I had no idea that it would be so yummy on chicken!)
green beans
fatfree raspberry dressing
natural soy milk in I forget how many cups of coffee
(yes, a few Immodium after 3 trips!)
UFO chocolate covered expresso beans (I stopped counting!)
and at least 3 ounces of the real mc coy organic dark chocolate (no-dairy).
Was it worth it???
I think so!
It's one of those "Like Water for Chocolate" nights,
although I know I've consumed at least 2L of that & only one pack of sugarless gum. (I know that more than a pack of that stuff sends me to the pot! Maybe I should just supplement with l-phenylaline and aspartic acid?)
Kate, IBS-D.

Luna Bar

A very blah day in regards to feeling fatigued, dizzy, and stiff. Called in sick because I knew I couldn't make the drive to work. Haven't had to call in sick in months, so I was disappointed about this. Slept most of the day. No IBS attack. No cold or flu. Not very hungry, but I tried to eat. Aargh. It's back to work on Saturday, though. Thank goodness I already have a doctor's appointment set up in February.

Aw, sorry to hear about that. I guess we're in a similar situation regarding our height and weight. I've been working with some free weights at home, but not much. Most of my exercise comes from lifting books at the library and pushing bins. I'm always moving around (cleaning, jumping, prancing, dancing), but I don't know if that would count as exercise. I would go on because I feel like having a pity-party, but I won't. Plus, I have to go to work. Sigh.

I did ok yesterday, foodwise...but I drank a bit too much last night. Oh well...at least I got some calories in! (Kate, I'm in the same boat as you...I'm proud of you for indulging a bit last night! Youe deserve it, and your body needs it.)
*extra small banana, cheerios, soy milk
*veggie burger sandwich with lemon dill spread, salt and vinegar baked potato chips
*a few mixed nuts
*brown rice pasta with small side salad
*1 beer, about 3 vodka shots
*crackers with soy cream cheese, carrot sticks

Okay, I totally get it. Can you actually believe that my doctor told me to go eat some junk food or my grandmother's cooking! (She's my grandmother's doctor & a former neighbour & often had lunch or dinner at my grandmother's place in the early days of her career so she know all about traditional Polish foods!) She told me I should eat some whole eggs (trust me, booze is friendlier than whole eggs!) & use some real grease (veg. oil)--she didn't say nuts because I have a nut allergy. But tossing a few nuts in here & there would be amazing for you! Yes, I crave avocadoes, too! I totally love hummus & soy lattes! And, once in awhile really good chocolate (always with coffee) goes down well.
But, it's not really about food--it's about lifestyle & from what I can see, we basically thrive on healthy green foods! We're more wholesome than not.
But, now that you mention it, booze will add a few calories on your "daily tab" so, be cautious/sensible about it. A beer would kill me, but if I'm relatively stable vodka shooters would be fine.
By the way, you are doing wonderfully.
Kate.

My doctor told me to eat junk food--go figure! But she knows how "green" my cuisine is & how devoid of "products" my fridge happens to be (that shows up in my bloodwork, too, i.e. with low "chloride" levels).
I guess, we both just keep on eating what makes us feel good. But it is important to keep on eating & getting the nutrients that count. I'm upping the protein to combat the muscle wasting & anemia, upon her recommendation. I'm going to try and safely incorporate a little more healthy fat, but I'm really hyper-sensitive to it. (You won't catch me eating whole eggs!) Yes, that's all we can do...just eat & cross our fingers that it's enough.
I'm like you--rarely do I sit! I am always up & down the stairs!
Kate.
