Hi everyone

My names Cindy, I am in the UK and my Dr thinks I have IBS. Have tried Zelmac which didn't really help so now I'm just making sure I don't eat things which irritate (eg, full cream milk). I don't know much about IBS and do want to find out more....however, my first question is about pregnancy. Does any one know if the risks of miscarriage are higher for women with IBS then women with normal digestive systems? I know that the progesterone causes contractions of the uterus but (I have had two miscarriages) with my second pregnancy i had such bad bowels cramps and spent so long going to the toilet I though there was no way this baby would be ok, and it wasn't. I'm not blaming myself, i just want to know if it would help to really limit my diet (trying to conceive again) or does it have no impact?

Cheers for any replies

Hi, Cindy! Welcome!

I personally don't have much information or experience dealing with pregnancy and IBS, but you might want to do a board search on pregnancy. I also think you should repost your question in the Living Room (lots of moms and moms-to-be w/ IBS there) and/or the IBS Diet Board. Here's a link to a section of the main site that deals with pregnancy: What's Known About Pregnancy and IBS?

Take care!
