In usual hobbit habit, random order and divided doses:

--2 c. strawberries
--1 peach
--green chard/green beans/dill
--creamy zucchini/watercress soup (just nuked/steamed zucchini, parsley/watercress; pureed)
--some more green beans/parsley
--2 carrots

***Everything was pureed. Those berries are heavenly. The peaches are like pudding. Raw jam; YUM.

Still require more calories, but I've got tons of colour in the fridge!

B: MOM
Snacks: 2 banana, luna, 4 cookies, carrots
never had lunch
D: ratatouille over herbed rice, pita with some walnut sauce in it.
couple grapes, some gin gins. Can't remember anything else, but sugar in my tea.
Exercise: worked 5 hours in high heat and then did situps and Roman chair. I have a headache now and so this isn't much of a report.
Liquid: ran out while working. Couldn't believe I drank 60 oz in less than 6 hours! Hopefully I drank enough after work.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

pre-breakfsat: Luna Bar

breakfast: oatmeal, toast (1 slice), banana

snack: Stawberry Fields-Crispix cereal mix (dry), toast (1 slice)

lunch: black beans, Mexican rice, 1 flour tortilla, 1 small scoop lemon sorbet on a sugar cone

snacks: jar of papaya puree (baby food), Crispix

dinner: Thai Kitchen Ginger Noodle Soup

snack: Luna Bar

Well, I went for a walk today--only 20 minutes, but it's better than 0 minutes, right? I spent most of the morning doing some heavy-duty house cleaning and some light exercises. Unfortunately, I've been having some fatigue issues, so by the afternoon I was wiped out and by the evening I had a pretty bad headache. I don't usually get headaches, but I've had quite a few the past couple of weeks.

That lemon sorbet sounds yummy. Who makes it?
I'm kind of into these frozen all fruit bars by Delmonte.
The last time I had sorbet, I ended up squirting EXTRA LEMON on it!

It's Haagen Dazs "Zesty Lemon" Sorbet. Ooh, squirting lemon juice on it sounds good. I'll have to try that!

I shall investigate. Definitely squirt some fresh lemon on top. A little grated rind would be divine. Eyes are wide open next time I'm shopping.

I'm such a sour puss that well, I love adding tartness and tang, etc. to everything. Did you try adding pickle-water to anything, yet? Sometimes, sour/tart makes my tummy feel better. I sometimes just need to suck a pickle! You know how those drugs are. Read that fresh lemon is highly alkalizing. Also, that lemon sorbet sound like it would be wonderful with some berry puree or something--even NERDS, on top.

I would think that lemon would be acidic??

Also, I had some Mango Sorbet yesterday by same company. To die for! Who needs Ice Cream!

With all this mango talk, I ended up eating a mango half with breakfast and then mango sorbet after dinner.

I don't know too much about this, but I've heard that adding alkaline foods to your diet promotes digestive and overall health by balancing your body's natural pH. However, I'm not familiar with any studies done on this and I'm not even sure if your body would need help to keep this balance. Maybe Kate has more info on this.

Lemon is acidic and you should probably avoid it if you have GERD or if it's one of your triggers. I don't seem to have a problem with it, but I don't eat a lot of it at one time. So, with the Lemon Sorbet, I'll just have a small scoop, probably about two tablespoons (I'm guessing), and with the lemon/lime wedge I'll just lick it or squeeze some on my food. Sometimes just the smell is satisfying.

Ooh, I haven't tried the mango sorbet yet. I love the lightness and freshness of fruit sorbets. Goodbye, ice cream!

Okay, I'm not trying to be a busy-body or anything , but are you going to start posting what you're eating/trying on the Fitness board? It's okay if you don't, but it's a nice way to get some feedback on what you're doing to help the IBS. Sometimes, it's easier for me to figure out what's wrong (even though I keep a personal food journal as well) by seeing it here on the board. I guess it makes me look at myself with a more critical eye?

Take care, Beth. Enjoy some mango sorbet tonight!

A balanced PH is good. Lemon--fresh--is one of the most "alkalizing" foods. However, some people can have an acid reaction to an alkaline food. People's ph react differently.

For those with GERD, lemon may cause an acid reaction.

That mango sorbet sounds delightful--especially in the heat.
I'm glad you enjoyed your mango, today.

hot water with a slice of lemon in it before breakfast, as someone recommended it for constipation remedy. Just not sure if it is too acidic.

I don't think a slice of lemon has enough acid in it to do any harm. Especially with all that water too.
