I did not agree with this study. Your body will do what it has to do when it has to do it. And IBD/IBS make you go or not go or sometimes both. It is not activity that drives the body to do whatever it is the function of the individual parts of the body and if one is not functioning correctly what does physical activity have to do with it??!!

I find that if I'm not exercising then I get more constipated but if I make sure I'm exercising I have a much easier time "going". I think a lot of people on here with IBS-C have had similar experiences.

I work out at least four to five times a week running and/or biking for at least an hour. Plus I am very involved in other activities. I have noticed that my constipation problems got worst when I introduced early morning races and activities because my system isn't ready and probably the stress. This messes me up for days.

I used to think this was true until my IBS-C got as bad as it is. If I needed to "go" I would go out for a 6-mile run and then be able to "go." I've found that since I've been running for years now, it simply doesn't work anymore.

Yup, your body adjusts to the exercise you do. As a D person, it took me a long time to work up to the number of situps I can do without having to 'go'. Now I can do as much as I want. Running is still very hard for me to do without getting an attack becuase I don't go very often. If you constantly change the types of exercise you do, your stomach muscles wouldn't have the chance to get as accustomed to it.
