I have been on the IBS diet now for 2 weeks, take fennel tea usually twice a day and take the peppermint capsules once a day BUT I am still very bloated. I have also been on the acacia twice a day (1/2 Teaspoon measured). Am I just being impatient? I have no pain but my bowels are still loose.

Frustrated. . .

As Heather says, the bloating is one of the hardest symptoms to get under control, but it can be done. Many of us, including myself are living proof!!

Fennel tea is good for the bloating so it's good you're drinking that. I think you can even drink more. Also there are some yoga poses on the Yoga board specifically for gas and bloating. There's also a list on the main website of gas-producing foods to avoid if you have a lot of bloating. Finally, just in case you haven't tried them there's an over the counter product called Phazyme or Gas-X that has really helped me. There are store brands that are cheaper, too. The active ingredient is simethicone. I take two extra strength caplet every morning and combined with Heather's diet and soluble fiber supplement, I can't remember the last time I was bloated. Oh, you can increase the acacia too, gradually. See the sticky post at the top of the list about fiber supplements and dosages.

Good luck and don't get discouraged. Your body just needs a little more time to heal and get stabilized. You're not alone and you're doing everything right, so keep up the good work!

the tea helps some, but when its not enough ( and I make it by the pot and fill one of my water bottles with it and drink it all day... I have one bottle of tea and 2 of water each day (32 oz) and sometimes a hot tea in the AM... If I have enough fennel in the tea I have found I really don't need to take much gas-x unless i'm eating really gassy foods, but otherwise I have been using gas x as needed and it makes a huge difference... no more pregnant looking belly unless I really screw up what I eat and forget to take a gas -x which I did once!

Thanks, I will take your advise and try the Phazyme or Gas-X. I'm finding this website so helpful!! It is so great to know I am not alone with this nightmare. I will also start drinking more fennel tea!!

I'm in the beautiful mountains in Highlands, hoping the move here would allow me to be stress free which I thought was causing my IBS-D. But 6 months into living here, I had an attack and it has taken me a year to finally discover this website. I sent away for the book, teas, etc. and seem much better except for this bloating.
