Hi Meg,
Mannitol is very similar to sorbitol. Some people are not as sensitive to it as I am but sorbitol/mannitol gives me "D" and gas. Hopefully you are one of the lucky ones that it does not affect and if it is helping I would definitely keep taking them.

You can get them at most supermarkets (Waitrose, Morrisons etc) and in quite a lot of newsagents. I'm just waiting for these ginger altoids that you were all talking about a couple of weeks ago - they sound nice.

Everyone I know eats altoids all the time just for fresh breath. The ginger ones are kind of odd tasting and burn your throat but are good for you. I have a ginger and peppermint together and it doesn't burn so much. Hope they help.

Mannitol is actually used as a baby laxative. Another use for it that not many people know is to cut bulk cocaine! But we won't go there!!
