Hey all - I have a quick question about making tea (it happens to be peppermint) from the leaves using a tea ball -- I picked one up from the local grocery store, but can't seem to prevent getting little leaves in the tea itself. Is this normal, or do I just have a bad tea ball?

I'd say that a few leaves are within the realm of normal (and they settle to the bottom of the cup, usually). A cupful of leaves isn't. There are two different kinds of tea balls - some are solid metal with tiny cut-out holes, and others are basically wire mesh. I'm not sure which you have, and neither one is "bad", but I prefer the mesh kind, myself.

I've got the solid ball with cut-out holes -- it's thankfully not a cup of leaves, but it was more than I was expecting. Most of them do settle, with the exception of a few 'floaters.' I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't out of the ordinary...

I use the mesh type tea balls, and have very few if any "escapees".
