Everytime I have an attack, I am very tired, and sometimes get the shakes, does anyone else experience this too?

Oh yeah. I get them all the time - I also often feel I'm going to black out. I'm definately VERY tired.

I get extremely tired (mega sleepy) when I have an attack, but I don't think I've ever had the shakes. I can barely stay awake while I'm having an attack, much less afterwards! Even while in extreme pain, I'll be yawning and can hardly keep my eyes open. Although I wouldn't wish IBS on anyone, I'm glad to see someone else has the same mysterious tiredness. I've been dealing with IBS for over 20 years.

I get the shakes too but I think it is a reaction to the pain.

I used to get them while I was having the attack. I also think b/c I was soo scared that the pain was never going to go away, and also it seemed like shaking kinda of helped to keep my mind occupied instead of thinkin I was dying. I still do occasionally get them afterwards when I have a really bad attack. I get them a little and am exhausted.

I get exhausted especially after an evening of attacks. I don't know if I shake, if I do it's not to bad. I do get an increase in my heart palpitations during severe cramping and pain. I also get the cold sweats and regular sweats from time to time. I find labor breathing helps me with the pain.

Thanks to all, I thought I was the only one! I keep telling my husband I'm just so tired and worn out, for days after, I know he gets tired of hearing me say that, so it is good to know I am not the only one! Thanks!

Yes, I get the shakes during an attack. Having IBS can be very tiring. It's a good idea to take a multivitamin supplement to make sure that you are not missing out on any nutrients (which can contribute to sleepiness). Remember, especially with dirarhea it can zap you of your fluids and electrolytes. Some people find gatorade helpful (has electrolytes). Let's face it - simply having an attack is hard on your body. I think it's a natural reaction.
