I bought some flax seed oil from my chiropractor; evidently it is very good for you. Since you can't cook with it I thought I could use it for dressings. The problem is it isn't very tasty compared to EVOO. Does anyone else use it? Does anyone have advice on how I should use it or if I should?

Do a search, because we discussed this about 3-4 months ago. I've been on the capsules for that long, and I swear they've actually reduced my cholesterol (my lab tests are lower than they were before I started on the capsules).

I wouldn't use it for dressings -- but that's just me. I have my fat-free faves that I prefer. Don't forget, it is flax seed OIL.

I know; that is the part I don't like- the oil. I have gotten my fat grams down to 25-30 and I don't need an additional 14 grams a day of flax seed oil. Ugh. I'll do a search.

I use Flax Seed in place of oil in recipes. I use a certain percentage of flax seed in place of the oil. If you would be interested in the % let me know. It keeps my homemade biscuits moist and you would never know it was in there. I was unsure if you could use the flax with IBS-D.? I purchase the powder and keep it in the freezer.

I have always been told flax seed oil cannot handle temperatures and can only be used fresh. Maybe the powder is different.

I'm still not using this and it cost $18 so that is vexing. But I know people take the capsules, yet doesn't that give you the fat too? It actually is supposed to anti-inflame anything even your bowels so I just hate that it is oil. So I did search and I am still confused.

yes, seeds need to be used right away. Package that powder comes in actually tells you to freeze or ref. it. Good info you share.

and the bottle does not tell me to refrigorate it. Mine are Nature Made. My chiropractor also recommended the flax seed and said I only need 1000mg a day. I only take one pill a day where the bottle recommends three. I tried the oil and couldn't stand it. Take it back and say you don't like it and can they recommend some pills.

I find that I love the flax from power for baking. I saw someone had mentioned the grams of Fat but how many grams is that per how much? Also is it a tigger for IBS or great for IBS-D? I will do a study to learn, hopefully if it is good for us or not, high in fat could be like Avocadoes a good fat that won't tigger?!

I'll try to take it back and see how it goes. I thought I could have substituted it for the small amount of oil I already use but no way. Thanks.
