I have the same problems- it does not matter what I eat I have severe cramping afterwards. I found that drinking a cup of hot peppermint tea with your meals especially at dinner time seems to help. Good Luck- Stacey T.

These teas are great for cramping: Peppermint, fennel, and ginger.
Exercise may also help.
If you have lavender essential oil, it can help to put a few drops in oil, and rub it on his tummy.
I'm sure other ppl here will also have other suggestions, ones with meds that might help.
I hope your father feels better, soon.

Welcome to the boards, Monicanaha!
Definiately explore the HelpForIBS.com site more as you'll find a ton of information - including what foods to avoid and what foods will help on bad days, pain remedies, tests and questions to ask your doctor, and a lot of other important information that will help your dad start feeling a whole lot better.
In the meantime, try the ideas and suggestions on this page: What To Eat When You Can't Eat Anything. This will help stabilize your dad and hopefully eliminate a lot of the pain.
Hope to see you or your dad around on the boards more, and feel free to ask any questions! Hope your dad starts feeling better fast.
