I need help. I am taking antibiotics for a sinus infection 875mg every 12 hours...I am bloated, gassy, crampy and have a burning in my stomach and a pain on my left side....I am on the ibs diet, also taking my stomach meds but I do not feel well...I stopped taking the antibiotics (amoxicillin) but not entirely...I one half in the am and the other half in the pm...these never used to bother me before. But now everything just seems to upset my stomach....any suggestions???

Fennel tea & over the counter Phazyme. Be sure to check with pharmacist or your doctor on your antibiotics & phazyme. Hope you feel better.

You could also take a probiotic to replace the good gut flora. Acidopholus is one. Jarro makes several probiotics; Bev really likes Jarro Dophilus-EPS.
A board search will give you more information on this topic.
Good luck, and get well!

Run, don't walk to the nearest health food store to get some probiotics. You may have heard them by the words acidolphilus and bifidus. Or at the very least, get some soy yogurt with live active cultures to start. Here is some info on probiotics. web page
Take the probiotic with every meal as long as you are on the antibiotic. Some say take on an empty stomach but I've taken both ways and don't notice a difference. They need to get in your gut regardless of the timing. I personally think it is absolutely criminal that probiotics aren't prescribed to go along with ANY antibiotic, for people with or without IBS.....

As Kandee indicated, you buy probiotics at the health food store. I don't think a regular drug store will carry them.
Good luck!

To my knowledge, the only place you can buy Jarro-Dophilus EPS is online: web page

I actually found it at my local hole-in-the-wall health food store, but the web is a sure thing.

I went to walgreens the other day and they ordered some for me since they were out. I haven't picked them up yet though.
