But personally, I only eat it on white crackers or white pita bread. I don't know about the whole-wheat thing; I'm not brave enough to try that yet. LOL!

I can usually take some hummus, usually with a whole wheat pita, but as with everything else it tends to vary depending on the person. Hummus tends to have both tanhini and olive oil in it, so check the package (assuming you're not making your own) before you buy for fat content. You can also get 'dry' hummus that you can make yourself if you feel you want more control over the amount of oil that goes into it.
In general just try it out, a little at first, to see what happens. Hopefully (because it's rather tasty) things will be alright for you!

Hummus served in restuarants has a ton of garlic in it. Watch out for that.. the ones in the stores is not so bad. I just can't handle a lot of it. Garlic does a number on me.. Good thing I am italian!

My family is Lebanese, so I'm an expert on hummus. Haha. Hummus is incredibly simple to make from scratch. Real traditional hummus *contains* no oil - you're supposed to drizzle it over the top before serving. It does contain raw garlic, but when you make your own, you can roast the garlic first... it'll change the flavor, but if you find garlic is harsh for you, it'll definitely mellow it out and make it a lot more tolerable.
